So I finally picked up a sphinx over the weekend (before I got the book, however that's a long story). I had to travel 2 hours home and do some other stuff, but I finally sat down last night to put it together. I've got a second one on order from Maelstrom so I will have both, but for the time being I thought I'd make the necrosphinx.
I couldn't believe how easy it was to put together (admittedly the warsphinx with the howdah and crew will likely prove harder), nor how awesome the model is. I thought GW couldn't surpass themselves when they did the stegadon, but both the arachnarok and sphinx models are even better.
I have a number of armies, but I can see myself playing almost exclusively as tomb kings for the foreseeable future because they are now such a beautiful army. And I couldn't have said that before the latest release. Kudos to GW for really getting it right.
Yes - it is a lovely model. And the Warshpinx goes together just as easily. I have taken the necropshinx body and i plan to make a HeiroScorpion (Titan) out of it and a tomb scorpion body, with some old metal carnifex arms for legs. I got inspired by the little blurb on constructs in the new book by the Collossus section.
