Welcome to Librarium Online!
I bought two boxes of these... and I feel thats more than enough with the prices.. geez... The problem is I want to try both. And also I like the Stalker model but dont care for the snake model. Has anyone else looked into building the Stalker models and then possibly adding magnets to the top so the T. Guards can sit there to use them as N. Knights and pull them off to use them as Stalkers???
And I completely agree, the stalker looks fantastic and the snakes only so-so.
I haven't received mine (on order but apparently being sent via a turtle's back) - would you consider doing a modelling diary on how you would do it so others of us here can learn from you?
Yeah, once I know what Im going to do I will post here maybe even with pictures. Currently the idea is to just make stalkers and magnetize the heads for the Tomb Guards to ride so I can choose either unit. But looking at the box further it appears the Stalkers and the Snakes share three common points. 1 - the snake body on the ground, 2 - the spine and 3 - face/death mask. The body IMO can be green stuffed (GS) pretty easy with some copper wire for support. Depending on how much detail you wanted, we could probably also GS a spine and press the two body pieces into it while its soft to get the body contour for gluing. The mask/head will be the tough part. Was thinking either GS that or go try to find some small plastic snake toys at Toys R Us or something. Going this route I would say to use the kits for the Stalkers because they are currently the best looking model, then use GS and left over parts to make the snake surf boards for the Tomb Guards to ride on since they are mediocre atm anyway. At least with some GS and your own touches the snakes can look maybe a little better.... Well those are my current thoughts anyway. It may be a week or so before I can get to modeling them. Hopefully you get your box in before then and can examine them and we can share ideas!
I disagree, they've blatently been inspired by the Medusa - hence the humanoid upper torso.meaning the knight snakes would have been better off as the stalkers.Yep - I agree there. This is because they're so un-original, they're straight out of "class of the titans" style films. GW is best at copying other peoples I.P.the stalker looks fantastic and the snakes only so-so.Not sure how it works in OZ, but here in the UK, "standard" delivery is now a lot slower as they've switched back to using the post office (up until now they've been sending all my standard orders via "HDN" - a uk parcel service called the Home Delivery Network). Actually I'm pleased about this because it stops them leaving my parcel inside a "wheely-bin" if I'm not there. At least the post office look after it until I can collect it. One day HDN put my parcel in the bin and I was lucky to get it as it was the day my rubbish is collected! Not a happy bunny!I haven't received mine (on order but apparently being sent via a turtle's back)
~shrug~ I'm thinking "counts as" is the way to go...the snake-surfing-skellies are at least as idiotic ask Genghis Khan and his boys executing the charge of the light brigade across a 40k battlefield with blobs of plastic explosives molded to the point of a stick, and therefore, I refuse to use them...but the knights' statline is so much better than that of the stalkers...so I'm thinking of modeling stalkers and fielding them as knights. If I use that kit at all, my current army list plans don't include them, since I'm going for an infantry horde backed up by magic, so heirotitan, casket, (one necrosphinx), mobs of 4-pointers, and some halberdiers.

I've ordered my stuff from the UK (Maelstrom), and for whatever reason they have still yet to pack it. I believe the knights themselves are still listed as out of stock on their page ... one can only presume the sheer demand for stuff was so high that they couldn't order enough in. I certainly ordered (and paid) for them well before they were released, so I'm really not very happy that it's now a week later and there is still no word as to when they are going to dispatch them, let alone when I'll get them.
Really poor that they put your package in your bin - that's a TERRIBLE decision. I wouldn't even think to look in my bin for anything other than rubbish!
Looking at the sprues on the GW site, the parts are made just so, its not like changing a rhino to a razorback and back.
I'm considering in combining the upper torsos of both Necrocobra and Stalker, into one epic mount for my knights ... I think they'll look sweet if I can pull it off.
Hmm... thats a good idea too. I never considered a cobra-stalker... if you get to it before me, please post some pics
This is what I got so far.... might have to buy some heads on ebay for the snakes.. not sure yet... Body is network Cat5 twisted pair copper covered with greenstuff.
Stay awhile, and listen...
