Welcome to Librarium Online!
I got to read through the Storm of magic book yesterday (Mine is still in the post!). I got to see our magic boosted spells for Nekehara, and the death magic basic one as well. They look very good:
Nekehara - Presience (have 1 fulcrum): 10+ to cast - RiP spell: Lore of nekehara becomes d6 + 2 raised.
How cool is this - those chariots will just keep comming back!
Equilibrium (have same fulcrums as opponent): 20+ to cast: Augment: Units in the Tomb King army gain a plus to WS, S, and I of certain amounts depending on the unit: Tomb kings / Princes +3. Other charachters, tomb guard and Necropolis knights: +2, all other units +1. Strength 4 skellies! strength 6 Tomb Guard (And WS 5)
Unfortunatly (Or fortunately depending which way we look at it) we dont have a dominance spell (More fulcrums than the opponent)
Death magic - Presience: 15+ to cast (Dont quote me on that), RiP spell Hex: opponent takes a Ld test at -3, and loses models for every amount over that - each turn the modifier becomes on e more, so -4 the next turn, then -5 etc. This could work very well with the mask and doom and darkness!
Anyone else see somethig i missed?
The Death one fits in with the Army List I posted perfectly! Pump that list up to a Grand army. Throw in 4 Caskets, and a bunch of SSC's and let the world weep!
Think the Equilibrium is called Return to the Golden Age or something. Very nasty considering it makes everything we have sooo much better! xD
who needs dominion when one spell basically upps our entire army? O.ö
Return of the Golden Age is plain gross... Think about it - a unit led by a prince/king will be WS8/9 on top of the other bonuses! And all for just a 20+ casting, that's utterly insane.
And sure, it's damn likely that your presence spell will be dispelled easily come your opponent's turn, but it's easy to cast and gives better healing overall than VC's get.
The only problem will be how to protect your liche priests... They'll get a ward save just for being on the fulcrum, so perhaps looking into things like the sword of anti-heroes & other trickster's shard could help a little bit in keeping them on the vulcrum? (at least with the sword, he'd get the additional attack & point of strength if an enemy character tries to knock him off...)
VC's got utterly shafted though... (nice to see that it's true Ward & Vetock hate the army...)
However at least the vamps can hold onto the fulcrums alot easier than the liche priests can, but I doubt you'll see either of the VC cataclysm spells used since they're pretty sad overall.
But now to add onto the two new epic cataclysm spells, just think what a tomb king can do with the Windcatcher Prism... I honestly think that's going to be the most popular of the new epic magic items, as it's effects are hienously good!
So on the flip side, what do all of us undead players think though of everyone now getting access to our bonuses through the use of a Sorceress Pact? Considering the huge downsides of being undead in this edition, it seems a bit unsettling that say for example, a Lizardman or Chaos Warrior army can add in huge tarpits of undead... (TK skeleton archers acting as anvils for say a beefy unit of warriors is kinda scary!)
To be honest Warriors of Chaos probably wont give the VC and TK pacts a second glance even ;P they dont need anvils made up of skeletons seeing as their warriors are far better. What they might want to look into would be our Sphinxes and such. They dont have shooting though and adding lots and lots of archers to their army might be a boon for them, or any army acually. *glances at his sad little Vampire Counts*
pacts are good but it takes away from monsters and mythic items you could overwise take. For TK the greatest item in the book is the book yes, its evil xD
VC and TK have the best use of it seeing as we cane ressurect our units. Sacrificing models wont be a problem. Though i still dont know if our liche with the book dies if he goes on a fulcrum or not. Cause he leaves the unit when he hopps on a fulcrum and the book then eats him O.ö other than that...TK got the good end o the stick with their new magic spells, and new book, and new models.... *glances once again at his sad little vampire counts*
the book is extremely nasty...and the TK spells are, too...but I'm just not interested in playing SoM...I'm not worried, though...it'll get old quickly, regardless of initial enthusiasm, just like cityfight and APOC for 40k...
