Im a fairly new fantasy player. I have about 10 games under my belt with a Daemon army. I am a very experianced 40k player with 5 armies (daemons being one of them). So I picked up a tomb kings codex today and before I throw a ton of money into them I would like to know everyones thoughts on 1st why they like and play tomb kings and 2nd what units should i be looking to get and what units I should just plain forget about.

I play TK first because I like the models easier to sit down and paint something I like. I have been rather happy with the update the army finally got as well.
Forget about cavalry imo too expensive for no decent armor save or punch compared to other cavalry.
Must have Chariots I think they are amazing hammers.
Large blocks of skeletons 40-50 per thousand points is usually what I run with atleast a prince in the unit a necrotect is great too.
Warsphinx is awesome and fun but not a must have
Casket and Heirotitan are very useful especially if going magic heavy.
SSC solid piece I always take it.
Beasts of Eternal Rest - 3/1/2
Sigmar's Fist of Nuln- 3/0/0
I could swear that I already replied. Oh, well. I started them because I love an underdog in 2009. The current book reminds me of nids, with a choice between monstrous creatures or a horde of gribblies, and little chance of balancing the two extremes. Personally, I'm in the 'block of 50 hw/sh skellies per thousand points' camp. In addition to the lore of N, virtually everyone takes another lich with light or death. I prefer light. If your prince gets popped, speed of light helps your skittle block stick around. I just had 50 skittles hold off wardancers and treekin for five phases, and the treekin had them in the flank!
Screaming skull catapults are absolutely awesome. Take two, of you can stand the ridiculously hard kit (metal, poor fit and finish, needs hacking and much pinning and weighs a ton).

I just play them because i think they'r awesome and because i've always been into Eqyptian civilization and stuff. Just pick what you like, and not because it's cheap or good listwise i would say, because in the end the Hobby is about Fun!
Hear, hear! Three and a partial boxes of skellies plus a prince per ~400 point mega-anvil isn't a cheap way to build an army, but undead without number is the thought behind my army. That's what I like, so damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!Originally Posted by airjamy
