Welcome to Librarium Online!
I have the book in the mail and am a little impatient so I wanted to see if anyone could maybe tell me what part of this army isn't really used in current lists and why... It is a bunch of stuff and I have no idea what any of it does, and I'm not really looking for an explanation of all of it from anyone because that would be way too much to ask lol. But just some things such as "nobody really uses spears anymore on the skeletons because they suck" etc. I learned a lot from the forums for my WoC army that isn't really written down anywhere that ended up teaching me some guys were crappy even though I didn't realize it by reading the book. So just a few pointers based on what I've listed would be really cool to help me get my head wrapped around what I just dumped my money into!
Rep to anyone who gives me a pointer or two!
Thanks in advance guys!

That's a lot of stuff. Is any of it painted?
In general, the stuff that most folks don't use anymore are Spear Skeletons and Ushabti, some people are iffy on Scorpions (though I like them, personally), and Apophas is pretty terrible. Everything else will probably some use.
I can tell you that my army at 2500 uses 2 Warsphinxes, 6 Chariots, about 60 Archers, 30 Tomb Guard with Halberds, 2 Scorpions, a Casket, 2 Catapults, a Prince, and a Liche (High) Priest.
Interesting... Ya some of it is painted but less than half. I paid about a grand for it. Retail on all of it is $2400 from GW so I thought it was a great deal. Especially because I don't have to put it together!
So if some stuff isn't used, thats fine. So no on the Ushabti huh. Too bad those are so cool. What about swapping them to bows?
Thank you for the feedback!
The Great Weapon Ushabti are kind of meh, but the Bow Ushabti are absolutely terrible. The math-hammer has them as inferior to their points in Skeleton Archers, even against targets that the Archers would wound on a 6.
While the pointers given are good, you might as well try out the different units you got and see how they work for YOU.
For example I personally love hordes of spears for the extra attacks you get, losing the parry save from not being able to use the shield in hand to hand makes no difference to me as I never roll the 6 needed anyway lol.

I actually ran some extensive math-hammer on this recently (I can re-post it here if you like), and the conclusion is that Spears are not even worth it as a free swap on VC Skeletons, much less paying for them on TK Skellies.
Awesome input guys thanks! Ok so the spearmen I may try out but probably will just proxy them as something else.. Or I may even break the weps off and replace them if I have the bits (a bunch came with it) after a few games if they dont perform.
Too bad the Ushabti not being great because they are so epic looking.
You run two catapults? So thats maybe something I can buy down the road, as that army only came with one.
Glad to be of help. Enjoy your army!
Ok I went to my local hobby store and read through the TK book. My only fear with this army is the Nehekharan Undead rule. It seems very cool except for part about no marching. 4 inches of movement per turn on my skeletons seems horrible! How have you guys faired with this?
You make people come to you. That's why I mention shooting as being so important. An alternative to that is to spam the signature spell from Lore of Nehekhara using multiple casters - it increases the odds of getting it off, and then you'll be even with most infantry on the movement part, plus you'll get to heal.
