Welcome to Librarium Online!
I figured I'd post a thread about this as well as ask the question. Thought it might help some new people as well as some vets see how our magic runs in the magic phase. As for the Questions:
How are you using your magic phase?
How often/when do you use your spells in AoE format?
And how do you try and reduce the possibility of failure and blowing up your HLP/LP?
I've only had 2 games with tombkings but have dominated the magic phase each game.
1 hl at lvl 4 Nekharan lore
1 lp at lvl 2 lore of light
channels from them and then d3 from the casket i will always take.
i tend to get the first 4 spells in the lore of nek and speed of light + thingys time warp
as for using stuff for stopping miscasts in the 2 games i've had lady averages has loved me and i havn't gotten any.
I tend to take Khatep plus a L4 lore of light and the casket. I don't worry about miscasting (besides, Khatep is relatively immune!), the only thing that can't be remedied is getting sucked into the warp, and that's really rare. I also rarely bubble my spells, it's just not that common for more than one unit within range of the potential bubble to either need healing (bad enough to justify the higher cost) from the lore attribute or to benefit from the buff.
But, yes, against most armies, my magic is stronger, and helps me win with buffs and healing.
Khatep is a no brainer for your hiero tbh, 2000 points + a L4 light is nice but for a 1.5k I tend to take my 2nd caster as a L2 shadow, simply for hero sniping, some offensive magic, and if you get the spell 4. Called doom and darkness I believe, you can combo that with your caskets bound spell as it reduces leadership by 3, always nice really just very situational, I dont think L2 with light is worth it though really. I often use the nehekara signature spell just to get off an easy cast for the lore attribute, and if they dispell it, even bigger bonus !
