8 points for a fear causing unit that always hit on a 5+ may seem good somtimes & bad in others, i need you oppinions on wether Khemrian archers are any real use or not.
Good Example: With a few lucky rolls & some sneaky tactics i had 20 khemrian archers take out about that same number in skaven jazails, which cost considerably more, which ended up completely ruining my opponants plans & consequently i won the game.
Bad example: Once i took 20 archers in a game & the total that they killed was 1 model, a goblin, they never seemed to hit & when they did they werent strong enough to cause any damage. Shocking.
I personally dont like the archers & would rather take more CC armed skelies, but what are you views on them?
Skeleton archers are good and cheap to boot! 8 pts for a fear causing model that you can resurrect, you do the math!
Granted, sometimes they have trouble hitting the broad side of a barn, but if you use magic to support them, then that is when they become lethal. Use Horekah's Incantation of Righteous Smiting for a free shooting phase in your magic phase, always hittin on 5's mean that 1/3 of your shots will be on target... when you add Queen Kahlida and upgrade archers to have poisoned attacks, this is when they truly start to shine. And for a measly 2 point per model for the upgrade, it's hard to pass up!
The iron crowned is getting closer,
Swings his hammer down on him,
Like a thunderstorm he's crushing,
Down the Noldor's proudest king.
Under my foot, so hopeless it seems.
You've troubled my day, now feel the pain.
- Blind Guardian
definatly worth it. TK core cavalry sucks, not including chariots. righteous smiting is probly one of the best spells in the whole damn game, so use it.
The absence of wrath is an impediment to utilizing your true strength.
I'd say 1-2 units of 10 is a pretty good deal. They can guard your catapults and shoot down Fast Cav/Flyers that are hunting for chars/warmachines. And being unbreakable, they can tie up a unit of knights from charging for 3 turns, if you dont completely die first combat.
-My Warrior Priest will challenge your Chaos Lord
-OK, my Chaos lord will slaughter you
-My warrior priest with Van Hortsmen's Speculum will take his 7 Str 8 attacks. You die.
-Take your model off the table, he's dead
I think they are very handy.
Even if you fight against armies such as Dwarfs, you will score some casualties and they will irritate your opponent.
They don't take any shooting penalties so you can get down skirmishers and such very fast.
And what I think is very handy:
You can resurrect them!!
And all those things for only 8 points.
The only negative is their speed. But hey, why should you let your archers walk all the time??
Just let them shoot all the time, when your enemy comes, try to let them charge him by using magic.( use a unit of 20 or so) And when He won't flee, you can just resurrect them them and use other units to flnk the enemy unit.
So in my opiniion, a really good unit.
