My friend plays High elves and his magic is a really big pain and I cant get around it, causing me to lose every time. We are playing 750 point battles in a tournament and I need help desperatly to fight them. Here is my army list:
Light armour, shield, great weapon
Hirophant, Nefetras plaques of mighty incantations
Full command, light armour, shields
Full command, light armour, shields, Banner of the Undying Legion
2 Tomb swarms
My opponent usually uses a list something like this
Lvl 2, channler, silver wand
Lvl 2, channler, silver wand, Elven steed, ithmar barding
7 silver helms
shields, heavy armour, Full command
One mage usually uses High magic and the other usually uses Lore of Fire.
Any suggestions, comments, concerns, tactics? Help much appreciated!!!
well i am pretty new to the game but i think u should not take spears go with hand weapons for skellies and you need a tomb king if you want to give your skellies a banner of undying legion
it is just my opinion but i think another scorpion would be better then 2 swarms
from the points saved from spears i would give liche the hieratic jar or cloak of dunes or both
god hates us all! he will squish you with his almighty toe!
I dont think you can take a Banner of the undying legion unless you have a tomb king: so that will save some points.
Take out the tomb swarms and put in either carrion and play havoc with your opponents flanks; or take another tomb scorpion and put some more strength in your charges by setting traps by getting people to charge you then let the scorpion pop out. (this must be timed properly and you must roll right at the right time, not recomended for a beginner)
Take out a couple skeleton and take some dispell scrolls and maybe a broach of the great desert (I think thats what its called) to stop those annoying strong spells (ex: flames of the phoenix and wall of fire) from getting through.
Well, the opponent really goes magic heavy. You caneasily beat him in CC. Just focus on getting to him without to much casaulities.
Maybe you should try to assasinate his mages. You can do that with scorpion and swarms.
Banner of the undying legion may only be taken by skeletons if you have a TK. So you cant have it here...
Green is good
yeah i agree with Calinarion, shunt mages with tomb scorpions, flank, big time... but then i really like mobile tomb kings.
As above really. If you think about your opponent's list, the mages can only hide in the unit of spears. If you grab 2 tomb scorpions (maybe drop the swarms) and have them hunt their own respective mages, then they should be able to take them out quicky. If they hide them in with the spears, have both of the scorps charge in on a flank and therefore deny his ability to cast spells. If his silver helms come to play, even better, poison and killing blow work well against tin can units!
The iron crowned is getting closer,
Swings his hammer down on him,
Like a thunderstorm he's crushing,
Down the Noldor's proudest king.
Under my foot, so hopeless it seems.
You've troubled my day, now feel the pain.

Wrong, you could have a mounted mage on a horse and stuck into the Silver Helm RegimentOriginally posted by Grimbog Elf Ater@Feb 7 2005, 20:29
