The unit is something I devised that has probably been used before. The unit is a Liche Priest on a horse with a staff of Ravening joined with a unit of 5 light cavalry. The strategy is to move around the enemy army, off of an enemy units flank, to harass them with attacks and possibly run and gun down enemy archer units and siege crews. Obviously the casting of urgency helps them alot, as does the move and shoot with no penalty, but the another trick is the first time the unit opens fire with smiting, they might try to dispell it (unlikely) and then the staff of ravening fires, giving the unit the power of a larger unit of archers. At the very least the will distract the enemy, and his dispell dice, as the staff will seem quite threatening.
in the hieratic hierarchy bound all bound spell are used before the casters incantations.
bound spells are meant to make them panic about how to use there dispell dice
Yeah its pretty good.
But SOOO incredibly fragile its not funny. 2d6 S4 hits and your 360+ point unit is dead and your army crumbles. IMO priests (esp hierophants) is simply too fragile and easy tp be picked off. For example, unless your playing DE or have other "fast" cavlary units (M9), what other army places their priests in a 5 man strong unit with 6+ saves?
You dont see a imperial wizard on a horse with pistolliers do you?
If you want to get over the range problem- use the cloak.
Come into our musty tombs @khemri.co.uk
(600+ members and growing).
Well my liche high preist already usually uses the cloak, and the plaques of incantation. The plaques and the staff are both arcane. I use the plaques to make it so my castings of smiting on my catpults get through most dispell dice attmepts. The staff is 3d6 S3, and the unit costs 238, LP included. The LP can leave the unit if in danger of heavy shooting, or being charged.
