I know, as with the rest of you, that skeleton bowmen are very good. But just how good? I decided to compare them to the much more known masters of archers, the wood elves. Comparing point for point, and doing a little math, I found out that Wood Elf archers were only more efficent if the archers had no negative modifiers. Now, wood elves may not suffer modifiers for long range, and I know that. However, what about moving to form traps and lure units out of postion. Even if they stand still, they're probably hiding in the woods, a -1 modifier there. But what about the legendary 5-man unit? Costs only 15 less points than a 10-man skeleton unit. What if there isn't enough room to spread out in 1 rank? Smite or put it on a hill. Even if you argue that wood elf archers are better, the fact the skeleton archers can even come close means to me that they are still some of the best archers in the game. What do you think of this? Am I crazy, or did I forget something?
I agree that our skellie archers are some of the best of the game.
But the big deal with those wood elves, is that the 5-man regiments are really maneuvrable, and got a big range to shoot.They got M 5, so can lay traps for enemy regiments closing in.
Our skellies have a smaller range, but hit always on a specific number.
They don't have the flexibility of the wood elf archers to make traps and such.

i am currectly in the process of making an army that has almost nothing but archers in it....
1 x high queen khalida
5 x units 20 skeletons HW/Bow/Blessings of the asp
2 x screaming skull catapult skulls of the foe
there is obviously some flexibility, but the idea of 100 posion shots coming at you is kinda scary. you may want to take some archers out to put in dispel scrolls etc. this is just a rough idea not a final list.

It is terrifying... Or it would be if they were all able to shoot. Split that into 10 regiments of 10. The reasons for keeping them at ten men is so that they can always all shoot.Originally Posted by moses73

One more thing, about your suggested army, if that's the entire list, its illegal. Khalida can't be the hierophant. If it isn't I hope you took something to slow down the enemy, while they march towards you.
