I'm entering a 2500 tournement. I've worked out everything except whether to take a tomb scorpion or three carrion. I've played with them both, but I haven't got very decsive results. I've noticed carrion are more reliable at reaching the target, but tomb scorpion are better at combat. Help? Also, the rough army build is:
3x Liche Priest
25 Skeleton warriors
2x10 Skeleton archers
2x 5 Heavy Horsemen
Tomb Scorpion or 3 Carrion
The tomb scorpian has a better chance of getting straight into to combat with the enemies warmachine, wizard, etc. Also has enough movement for the better pursue movement. Stronger, Tougher, magic resistance, killing blow, poison and it came from below. Comparing it to three carrion I would generally take the scorpian considering you also have no other it came from below monsters. Although carrion can be very useful for that extra
combat resolution bonus with a flank or rear charge. Personally I'd go for the scorpian unless you had othe ideas as to how to use it or the carrion.
In the end there is only war.
Carrion are great - they are fear on wings. Try playing skaven, where u have hella mobile frar causing units! Watch them squirm. And while you're doing that, Bask in My Glory!
What about the skaven rank bonus leadership thing? They have average leadership 8, but a tomb scorpion coming up behind them isnt very nice.....
I'd take a Tomb Scorpion over carrion anyday. A construct with an armour save that has killing blow and poisoned attacks, that has equal unit strength as four carrion... for less points. Yes you sacrifice flight, but it would take you two turns to get to your target, possibly three with flyers anyway... the same time that it takes for units to ICFB. One of the best units in the game.
The iron crowned is getting closer,
Swings his hammer down on him,
Like a thunderstorm he's crushing,
Down the Noldor's proudest king.
Under my foot, so hopeless it seems.
You've troubled my day, now feel the pain.
