Welcome to Librarium Online!
I was thinking about getting into the Tomb Kings, and had two questions:
1) tactics-wise, do they have a similarity with any of the 40k armies? I know they LOOK a lot like the Necrons, but I'm not sure if they play similarly or not. I play Imperial Guard, so I'm looking for something I'll feel comfortable with, but with a slightly different feel... these guys fit the bill?
2) In terms of saving money, what would be a few good options to pick up? My intention is to start with a warband, and (very!) gradually work my way up to a full army...
(P.S: there don't seem to be a lot of posting TK players...)
Nah they don't really play a lot like any 40k army... Possibly necrons because you can bring them back, thats the only real similarity.
TK rely a lot on magic, and they have very powerful magic. In the right hands, they are extremely deadly, but they can be hard to master. Generally, if you make a good list and are playing 2k or above you should go well.
Start by buying skeletons, and you need a tomb king/prince plus a heirophant for the army to be legal. That should be getting close to warband size..
I think that rule can be ignored in smaller games, or else you wouldn't have any other units!:lol:Originally Posted by strewart

Cool! Thanks guys! Me and my roommate are looking for something to play on the side if we want a break from 40k, and we've both heard a lot talk that WHFB presents quite a few refreshing changes from the battlefields of 40k. Neither of us have a ton of cash (especially playing 40k) so we wanted to start with warbands and escalate from there.
