Hey just joined the forums and I'm new to the warhammer scene. I've played 40k for yrs but never looked at fantasy, but now I wanna play. I wanna build a core 1,000pt Tomb Kings army, but I've never played fantasy b4 so I'm in the dark on this. I was hoping some of u more seasoned tomb king players could help me out w/ a strong core army to start out w/. If u could throw in some basic tactics w/ them it would be nice also.
Thanks for all ur help!
Ok, first things first. You need the codex. Next you will want to get the Batallion Box. That is a good 500 pts right there. The key unit in a TK army is CHARIOTS, granted in a 1000 pt game you cannot take a Tomb King, but you can take your 2+ troops and then put in some chariots. As you probably know you MUST have at least 2 charchters in your army. The general ( Tomb Prince or King) and your heirophet. Those 2 chars alone will run you 200+ pts base. As stated above chariots are your friend, they act as fast calavry so they can reform as many times as they like during movement. I usually place my prince/king in a chariot and put him in a unit of chariots for a little extra umphh.
Also I believe that a screaming skull catapult is worth its points value. One hit with that thing can make a unit run and if you are lucky and get to fire it in turn 1 you can possibly make a unit run off the board. As far as a 1000+ list there are a lot of suggestions in the Army List section. Also I know there are a lot more seasoned players on this forum than I, but the above is just my opinion.
Try and find your own playing style and go from there. Some like heavy troops and some like the fast attack. But it truly depends on your style of play.
Let us know how it goes.
TK is quite a tough army for a beginner i think.
Remember that you wont be killing much stuff. You'll need to use outnumber + fear to make your enemies break.
Grab yourself lots of skeletons, these are great. Chariots are also bril as manakari said.
Look out for your hierophant, if he dies then things will go very bad very quickly
Hope this helps somewhat
