Hi, 1000 pt. Tomb Kings. Possible?

Hi, I'm a fairly new player and I realize that this subtopic has been fairly abandoned but from what I've read you guys know your stuff. The trouble is in 1000pts. Tomb Kings are pretty hard to put together. I routinely spend 400 points on heroes and you need a minimum 160 for core, and it's not a core I'd really prefer. Those two units of Skellie Archers don't even have a standard! What recommendations can you guys make? (I have my first tournament in the fall and it's 1000, so hence the restrictions)

Tricky indeed for TK.. Definitely an army that is better in larger games, the dynamics of the army in smaller games is a lot different. They can still be effective though.

I can't remember my list exactly when I ran 1k.. I'll try to find it sometime, doesn't seem to be on my comp. I ran prince on chariot, one (two? don't remember) priests, unit of chariots, unit of carrion and the rest skeletons. The carrion were great, took out a cannon first, then a lone mage, then attacked the rear of a unit. Chariots were likewise brilliant, as they pretty much always are, and the skellies did what skellies do.

it's possible but not ideal the bare minamum is a price who can stand on his own feet (in otherwords won't die to any lousy heroe with a shiny sword) and 2 preists cus ya need the spells bad!, next ya need a solid core be it warriors or bowmen just make sure their big, swarms can be handy but very costly and forget cav in low points ya will probably have enough points for 1 unit of usahbti or chariots to make for heavy hitting and that is generally that i would also try to stick in a bone giant as they are dead ard and can really give your army that extra bit of staying power (not to mention hitting power equal to that of any monster in the game plus some)
