Ok ive posted rarely, but i need some serious help. Ive looked at stuff and ive gotten more units to make a decent army. I know i need more stuff to really help but i cant at the moment.
Id like anyones comments/suggestions here. I have a army close to 2000 it consists of 2liche priests, TK, i think 64 skelies, 6 chariots, 8 calvary, 2 swarms, and a bone giant. Im not sure of anything really. I want suggestions on stuff such as strategies with any of these units, heavy or light calv? TK in chariot? strat for bone giant? which incantations should i use(i fight mainly against dwarves and lizardmen).
I also would really appreciate some strategy against lizardmen. Im constantly getting demolished by my friend. His army is all weapons no magic. His units are too powerful against my skelies and since i have no siege this is a problem. Anything that you think i should know about fighting lizards please tell me.
Thanks to all that answer this!
I'm both a Khemri and a lizardman player, who fights both Khemri and lizardmen! So i'll try and do my best to help
The first thing to do is have lots of infantry. I like skellies to be in units of 25-30, but with the models you've got you could either go with two units of 30 skellies or three units of 20.
The idea of these guys is to hold up a unit while you manauvre for the flank, and also to help with the outnumber (which is why i like to go with nice big blocks)
Hit saurus in the flank and they will go down, cold blood or no cold blood.
Instead of kitting them up i like them bare. As i use them mainly for their unbreakability, so they can sit their firing arrows as your opponent advances.
Chariots are also an excellent choice, be careful/wary of strength 7 (which LM can get easily) as these will make mincemeat of those chariots, but are the perfect flanking unit, and can get round the sides even better due to the fact that they are fast cavalry.
My advice would be to invest in some more infantry, be it tomb guard or skeletons. Then i think it's down to you really.
When i'm lizardmen i have a hard time against Tomb Kings, they have some nasty units
A no magic lizardman army? Sounds like a dream to me, im so tired of the Lore of Heavens (or whatever you players that use the lores call that one with the comet) that being crushed by good ole fashioned weapons sounds pleasant.
Other then my own whining about Lore of the Heavens, my only real advice in this post is play defensive. First few turns, see how he likes a 100 or so arrows. Fire at Skinks if he has them in front. They have the lowest toughness and most players can't hit them, but we don't have that problem. They can be in hard cover with that chameleon thingy, i don't really care, we still hit on 5+. And u should be able to spend at least a turn firing at tougher stuff. If he doesn't have Skinks, then concentrate fire. I don't care how tough he thinks a unit is, if you fire enough arrows it will go down. just let every unit fire once or preferably twice, every turn at a unit u've decided should die.
The exception is Iron Breakers in a dwarf army, i once fired 185 arrows at a unit of ten, made 35 wounds and it made every save. This was over the course of 3 turns (smaller match)
Then, in the later turns when it's clear ur not going to shoot your way out of this, make sure u don't give him charging lanes to ur giant, and ur chariots. Make sure he has to charge, or preferably get charged head on by Skellies. Then use the giant and Chariots to flank. TK is great for this. If you've been using his spell to get extra shooting, it can really make your opponent scoff when u say ur using your king's magic to make Skellies charge his super hard unit. But remember, your not looking to win, just sit there and hold him down. Plus on the off chance he fails his fear test he hits on 6's which might be enough for you to win combat and outnumber, thereby autobreaking and running down his unit.
thanks for the info. Its difficult tho cuz the board is long and thin with forests around(his terrain). So hes got huge damn advantage. Also no hills so i can only shoot with the people in the front ranks. Hes got almost everything going for him.
I'm not sure of the tools you have at your disposal, but in my experience, the Casket of Souls is a real gem against Lizardmen. Their leadership is a little lower than average due to the balancing nature of the Cold Blooded rule, but Cold Blooded doesn't mean jack against the Light of Death so you can easily rack up the wounds using it. Plus, with a lot of Skink skirmishing squads running around, you can usually catch more than a few squads in one turn with the Light of Death.
