Welcome to Librarium Online!
I have the book for Tomb Kings but am a Vampire Counts player. Now having no missile fire in the shooting phase is an irritating fact so I was just curious, even though Tomb Kings have low Ballistic Skill, is an archer heavy army despite the fact that there is such a lack of high BS, is a archer heavy list going to be a thorn in another person's arse?
Quand' io intesi quell' anime offense,
china' il viso, e tanto il tenni basso
fin che 'l poeta mi disse: "Che pense?"
- "The Divine Comedy of Dante Alighieri" 109-111 of Canto V
I AM THE C'TAN THAT RULES OVER ALL OTHER C'TAN
Large units of archers work great as they can shoot away whilst the enemy approaches, then reform into a large unbreakable unit when the enemy gets close, 35 archers or so is quite a good number for this, although if you try this tactic i tend to find that you don't really need to upgrade them much, if at all
Tomb Kings don't rely on a set BS to hit. Due to the nature of them, they can move, then fire at elven way-watchers in a forest and still have a decent chance to hit.
35 Archers is a little high for smaller games, but the idea of forming up into a solid block once the enemy approaches is a sound tactic.
Yep. TK can shoot pretty well despite the low BS - they neither suffer nor benefit from any modifiers to shooting, so bow-wielding Skeleton Warriors and Bone Giants always hit on fives
Use Light, Beasts, Metal instead of Heavens
NecroLords: Use at least one Death Mage
Brets: Use Peasants&Damsels
Skaven: Don't use Skryre SAD
Yeah, BS is a little on the low side, but the Arrows of Asp Army Special Rule makes up for it. Also, in a Archer Heavy Army, Khalida is a great choice, so you can add the 2 points to each Archer, giving them poisoned attacks, you are only hitting on a 5+ anyway, so half the time you hit, you are going to get a poisoned attack...thats great.
But dude...what are you going to do for a face when the monkey wants its ass back?
