Just something that i was thinking about, you guys may have already thought about this but it just occurred to me(i havnt actually played a game with TK, have to finish painting my wood elves before i can buy more)
does anyone use really large units of skellies? i mean like, 30-35 men strong? Because with other armies the fear is that the unit will be run down, but we dont break and its fairly easy to bring them back, and a large unit can stick another unit there for a while, or at least until i can get some other flanking/ strong units to come in.
Yea I've thought about it and while it fits into how fear works very well it isn't as practical. If you were to take 2 x 30 man Skeleton units, for that same price I could have 3 x 20 man units and much more flexability than your units would. In smaller games I just don't think its practical. In larger games however (3000+) I would consider taking a look into it.
sorry, i wasnt talking about outnumbering fear, i meant that players worry that putting tomany points/modles in a unit is bad because it can be broken fairly easily and run down. And i was thinking about the smaller more mobile units, but i ment for the skellies to be more like...a tar pit. Once you hit them your stuck.
Hmm I have thought about it but on the whole I agree with Spector, 3 units of 20 is more practical. However having two big 30 strong units to hold your battle line supported by Ushabti and Scorpions is a nasty combination. The problem is once you put a king in one of the units you and your Hierophant in the other, you are looking at 400/500+ points per unit. Also you would need to protect your flanking units for it to work, otherwise they will just be shot and then you are left with two expensive units which are average at best in combat (but isn't that always the way).
lol its very doable let me tell ya a little somthign to try out, use a unit of 40 bowmen one unit of 40 and place them in aline near some hill or somthing and cast extra shooting on them and watch the openonents face as he rushes for his dispell scroll or dispell dice
God, the thought of trying to line up 40 bowman....oh but it would be fun to use...
Yea and if someone is stupid enough to charge them, have some Ushabiti nearby. Counter charge with the Ushabiti and as long as you win combat...you should easily outnumber him with the 80 archers...
