I dunno why but i rarly see tomb kings ina most tournament. In the last GT i saw maybe 2 good ones one managed to get 4th. Ppl acully belive that tomb kings are crap. Well its not, i won 3 tournies with them all you have to do is use things that work and discard all things that in fact dont work.
Tomorow i have an official tournament and this is my 2k list that can face almost any army (having a bit of problems with dwarfs grrrr i cant manage to get more than a draw)
tk on chariot with flail of skulls (never leave without it)
tp on chariot + flaming chariot + gw
lp + cloak of dunes + heratic jar
lp + 2 d scrolls + casket
1 unit of 3 chariots
1 unit of 3 chariots
1 unit of 3 chariots
1 unit of 4 chariots + banner of scred eye
4 tomb scorpions (they work ushabties dont work in practice they dont their mov is crap)
although i was consiodering using 3 tomb scorpions and a unit of carrion still unsure would gladly welcome opinions
This army has a very important thing the most important in warhammer REDUNDANCY if anything falls due to unluck rolls you can deal you lose your king you have your prince you lose a unit of chariots you have another 3 you lose a scorpion u have another 3
AND PLS PPL DO NOT deploy scorpions as tunneling not unless you really want that +1 to start ther game or your enemy has a really heavy shooting army or has that bloddy Torrek.

I would like to see it in action, or play against it. Hopefully you will write up a Battle report at some time so that we can see how it works. I've tried fleets of chariots before and the problem I had was not having those blocks of foottroops to fall back on.... maybe I'll revisit the idea?
You should take some carrion, I've even been thinking of bringing my unit of 6 up a few. They are excellent for throwing an army into disarray while you set up your chariot charges. Find those enemy units that need to move and march block.
Or wait for those cowards and fly intercept... since you've been having tournament success you must be understanding the rules and thus can see the benefit of the birds. Try them!
As for the scorpions, I've been getting weird looks and comments from people since I don't tunnel them, as though I am a dolt... they work great in a battle line... the tunneling leaves too much up to chance. Even the swarms have a place....
Now the criticism. There can never be a perfect list...
hoping to hear how the tourney goes.
Well I wouldn't say that TK are a poor tournament army. I'd say that some people just don't know how to make the army work. In my opinion, Tomb Kings are one of the strongest tourney armies along with Brets. At 2k points or more that is. Under that we have some issues.
All chariots can be fun to play. The problem with chariots is that they are hit or miss. They have the ability to clean up in CC or get their clocks cleaned before they get there.
With the issue of scorpions and ICFB...my rule of thumb is if I take 2 or less burrowing units, I march them usually. More than that, I burrow them for statistically you'll get most of your units out of the ground. Also vs. heavy artillary...ICFB is a must.
one unit of chariots usually means they shoot the heell out of it, i tried using 2 big units 5 & 5 the problem was that one would get wittered downd from shooting that leaves just one to charge. you need more than one great hitting unit you need at least 2 the problem i also found using more than 4 was that movment 8 means that you get a very crappy move if you have ranks + you have an enourmous flank to get charged at. so 2 units wont work and one rarly does due to the fact that if you have just one unit of say 4 its not gonna do much due to the fact that youll be forced to leave teh rest of your army behind this way i can by turn 2 charge with at leats 3 units of them. Also the fast charging on my side protects the rear units like catapult & casket. if a unit gets witterd down you have th option of adding your characters to the other chariot units the possibilities are endless i was considering trying a king with scorpion armour and spear of antrack giving me 5 units of chariots basically since the king charge and stay der while another unit charges from flank the same turn with the incantation fo teh king or lp.
yeah ill try the carrion for tomorrow il let you know how it goes.
With regards to the rules the diffencens from the old rules are quite slight 3 major changes:
if a unit touches yours while fleeing its destroyed
and character shooting
and the new victory point system which is not relly emforcable yet but its used in all gts and has been adopted worldwide the new system works like this :
you win (i.e. minor - masacre) you get 3 points
draw you get 1
loss you get zero.
this basically eliminates all the diffences between getting minor - massacre which makes things alot mor interesting. Dawrfs are now playabe and tombkings also.
