I'm just here to query Settra in general as a fellow gamer seems to think that a Settra based army is completely indestructable, i was curious as too how i would kill Settra as it seems he is resistant to almost everything?
One by one the penguin's steal my sanity!
You would try to not actually destroy Settra himself (as you say he's rather tough), but one way of beating his army is to take lots of magic - with his 2 dispel dice and a single 'scroll', he's not going to be dispelling much.
Sadly, Settra is all BUT unbeatable.
The lack of any magic protection is really harmful. That is the most glaring weakness of a Settra list, just capitalize on that. As was said, focusing on killing Settra himself, is generally a fruitless venture.
It's Adventure Time!

Indeed, Settra suffers from a very poor magic defence but lets consider ;
1. Not every army will have a big magic phase.
2. Your own magic phase will be completely ruthless.
3. You will have alot of tough units(indeed you will HAVE to bring them ).
4. Kings/princes will also provide big punch as well as adding more resiliance to your own units.
5. You should be all over your opponent by turn two(or even turn 1).
In my opinion he is a rather interesting character.
""What's the matter? Don't ya like clowns? Don't we make ya laugh?" - Captain Spaulding.
Personally I feel Settra enhances an army like no other character in the game (sadly he costs 2 Lords because of this). Lets not forget lorewise, his is probably the greatest warlord/ruler to ever live. He gives the army so much control its really not funny.
Sure its a completely different playstyle than normally, but its deadly if used right. He will have such a fast army, and an insane amount of spells because if you would play him properly. I would only bring the Heavy Cav/Chariots/TG (for his "My Will Be Done") with the exception of my Tomb Princes/Icon Bearer and 2-3 Bone Giants. Like mentioned above, you'll be all over your opponent by turn 2-3 and you'll pack a punch when you get there.
But having said all this, playing a Settra list is a very small, elitist army. You won't have the amount of models you typically have in a 2k or 3k list and you won't have the Dispel Dice you normally would. His army has very little margin for error and if you make a mistake, you'll prolly lose a few hundred VP in the process.
Still, I won't play for 3k with only 1 DS and 2DD. That's frankly no magic protection.
And the ground did tremble, as the king marched to war...
If you play it right, I don't think the lack of dispelling will hurt you too much. Just get into CC fast and you will avoid alot of the nasty magic missles. Killing off mages will also help out your magic D.
Magic and artillary will whittle down his army quickly. Its true he'll save 75% off all hits inflicted, but one errant cannon ball can kill him.
Since he's good in combat, he'll most likely be place somewhere in the front line. Just use terrain to slow him down, sacrifice a unit or two to march block him, all the while hitting with all your artillary and magic.
March block tomb kings? We never march. Never Ever. And a wise TK player wouldn't leave Settra exposed to artillery fire at all, or at most one shooting phase. In close combat he will survive (not necessarily win) anything that hits at S6 or less and that doesn't kill him by combat resolution. In fact, death by CR is the easiest way to kill all TK fighting characters.
