I am starting up a tomb king force and want to base my army around king phar and his legion.
I am using both the story on page 18-19 on the tomb king book and the brief mention in the special character section as a base.
I have a few quick questions which hopefully someone can help me with.
First up, does anyone know of any other fluff regarding king Phar, this can be anything really.
Secondly, as I am trying to theme the army around the story on page 18-19 I am including the following in my army, TK (on chariot, flail of skulls), LP, IB (on chariot with banner of the hidden legion), chariots, archers, tomb scorpion, light horseman(from the hidden banner). Is there anything else people will recommed for an army themed around Phar, he is from an earlier reign so predates the screeming skull catapults.
Thirdly I am converting up a model to represent Phar (obviously) and was thinking of using Settra as the base. The plan is to do a weapon modification to the flail of skulls, with requesite orc skull. I intend to have the model as close to the picture in page 19 as possible can anyone pass advice on the conversion process. I may ask again in the conversion forum as well.
Thank you for your help.
I couldnt find anything online in reference to him, however there is a short bit about him in the Undead Collectors Guide. His army is mainly Chariots obviously, supported by heavy horsemen, and light cavalry for flank atacks.
I would say dont use the hidden dead banner, as in the items description it says it was a banner of Settra's legion, and Phar and Settra didnt exactly get on...
The army looks like it will be mainly core troops, with scorpions being the only special choice.
As for the conversion itself, id say the tomb king model with sword and shield would be a better base. he is in a more correct pose for the picture, the flail would be a more simple weapon swap, and he already has a shield.
Also the settra model is kind of recognisable, it would be a sin almost to model Phar on his greatest enemy, the dice gods may make you pay for that in a game.
Im interested in this project, and if you post on the tomb king or conversion forums i will be keeping track.
Ok, the banner is mentioned specifically in the story in page 5 of the book.
The base for my force will be 2 battalion boxes.
I thought about using that tomb king but if I do he will need to have a bit of work done on his face because boy is he ugly.
Where abouts is the undead collectors guide (or more to the point which one I have seen a few claiming to be that)
I got mine from my local GW. It has all the Tomb Kings models in, but only a litle background fluff. You are probaly better just reading through it, but it does some in handy for desinging conversions, so you may want to pick one up. Mne also has all the VC stuff in it too, its a combined undead book.
Also, ive probably just missed it, but i cant see any reference to phar and the banner in the story or on page 5.
Ok I am unaware if we have the collectors guides here.
The specific part in the story is when he looks at the chariot next time hime champion blah blah blah, skeletal steeds rising from the ground. though it could be argued it is banner of the undying legion, which fluff wise is from Mahrak as well (jackel squadron).
For the conversion of king phar I have decided to take your advise on board and convert the tk from the existing tks on foot. I was going to use the one with the glaive as the main body (looks heaps better) and then use the shield arm (repositioned if necessary) and then cut the sword arm off the other king and attach that as the base for the flail arm.
Flail is going to be post story so have an orc skull on it too, but i like the pose.
