im going to start a new tomb kings army and i need help with it becasue i cant think up a list with lots of magic in
Do you have the army book? if you want a magic heavy list its easy. Just depends if you want it really heavy, or good enough to be playable aswell as havng a decent number of other troops.
For a very magic heavy army, take a high priest, but use your lord slot for a Tomb King if you want chariots. then other character slots, either a prince, hierophant and priest on a casket, or three priests with one on a casket, depending on your lord choice.
Write up a list dependng on what you have/would like in the army and ill have a look at it for you.
i havent got the book but im getting it soon i have some models about 10 bowmen and 5 heavy horsemen. what i realy want in my army is ushabti and tomb scorpions and alot of skeletons
i mostly need my army to fight against dwarfs, von carstien vampires and orcs
OkIn that case get the book, have a good read through it and see what you like. Start with a small force, the id advie a scorpion or two, a unit of chariots and a good block of skeleton infantry, as well as a prince and two priests. For a rare choice, the catapult is the best imo. It wont be as effective against vampire counts, but get one anyway as it can cause havoc amongst other armies.
Hi the problem you face is that you are fighting 3 entirely different Armies and therefore you need to change your list against all 3 unless you are in a campaign. At 2k points I suggest a tomb king a prince and 2 priests, which will chew through a good number of your points.
You don't really need to go all that magic heavy to get off your spells take a SSC removing dwarven armour saves makes dwarves way less scary and with your magic focus on making 2 SSC fire over and over again by the time the dwarves get to you they should be down to 5-10 men and then you can jsut crush them. To counter act there firepower I suggest 2 scorpians and maybe 2 bases of tomb swarms this will allow you to charge the nasty war machines on your 2nd or 3rd turn and it means you are one of the few armies that can out shoot Dwarves making them incredibly vulnerable.
The Casket is grand, the SSC works really well. A Grab a tomb king or High lich priest it doesn't really matter but you want a hard hitting unit like chariots to take out his blocks of nasty infantry use the SSC to decimate the goblins to avoid fanatics whatever you do don't make your heirophant stick to the casket and i always give him the cloak of the dunes so that he can run from trouble if it happens.
the casket is fantastic. there banshees don't work against us however the casket if it goes off will destroy there skeles grab some scorpians to snipe the general (gotta love killing blow) and with some luck they will fall apart before they even get close to combat.
If creating one army to beat all three i would take a casket and SSC, Tombking prince and 2 priests in the magic department this gives you the equivalent of 9 power dice plus the jar. (heiretic jar). Which is nicely balanced use the prince in a 3 strong chariot unit, one priest behind the casket and the other priest with cloak and jar to stay behind the chariot unit and make sure they get that first charge in (your heirophant). the tombking i generally put in a unit of tomb guard with an icon of rakaph and the tombking has the collar of shapesh and destroyer of eternities works very well against dwarves and orcs very much an overkill against VC.
Hope this helps

ok after a long time i have came up with a army list
1 tomb king,chariot,chariot of fire,spear of antarhak,light armor=277
1 liche preist,casket of souls=280
1 liche preist=115
1 liche preist=115
16 skeleton archers=128
3 skeleton chariots=120
1 tomb scorpion=85
1 tomb scorpion=85
1 screaming skull catapult=90
making 2000 points this is for fighting orcs, dwarfs and vampire counts :w00t::w00t::w00t::w00t:
Give the hierophant priest the cloak of the dunes, and dont make him the one on the casket.
Give the king the enchanted shield for a better save, and also the collar of shapesh.
Loose the unit of 16 skellies and add 5 to each of the other units.
Only other thing is Ushabti work best in units of 4, units of 3 cant take enough damage and stil hit back hard.
Not a bad list, but I wouldn't go in without a block of Tomb Guard. Skeletons are more of something to tie up the enemy for awhile; with WS 2 and S 3, they can't do much but that.
Tomb Guard with +1 WS, +1 S, +1 T, +1 I, and +5 Ld, Killing Blow, and magic attacks for only 4 more points per model is almost a must-have.
I'd also advise Skulls of the Foe. Since the panic test is really what makes the SSC worth taking, go for it. Leave it out against VC, as this is pointless against almost the entire army. Take it against Greenskins, especially if they're Goblin-heavy. Only take it against Dwarfs if you have great aim, as their high leadership is going to keep them from running most of the time.
Be sure to keep a Priest around that SSC for Righteous Smiting. The SSC is nasty, and if you can shoot it twice as often, you're golden.
