I've just been having a search around for comments and such about Queen Khalida, and it seems that there's very little love for her at all. Understandable in part because special characters don't seem to get much attention despite not needing your opponent's permission to use them anymore.
So, why do you rarely see a list containing her? She's not *that* expensive, and easily workable in a 2000 point army. She auto-casts smiting. She has great stats defensively due to striking first with five attacks and poison, and she allows you to reasonably get around the main problem with skeletons archers: great hitting ability (as shooting goes) but lack of wounding ability. But her big advantage, the thing that makes her stand out, is her staff. Simply put, any enemy army that intends to get into close combat, or use movement to avoid such, HAS to throw two dispel dice at her staff each and every turn.
A 2000 point army running her could consist of something like:
Liche - Cloak. Jar (Hierophant)
Liche - 2x Dispel Scroll
Liche - Steed, Staff of Ravening
24 Skeletons with Poisoned Arrows, Standard, Undying Legion (Khalida Here)
2x 10 Skeletons with Poisoned Arrows
4x Tomb Scorpions
2x Screaming Skull Catapult - Skulls of the Foe
Does this seem viable? How would you run a Khalida list? Or would you not run at all - and why?
I have a friend just starting a Tomb Kings army and he is planning to use Khalida in his 2K army. The list you have drawn up below would be vert effective too, she is an awesome character given her points, as her rules add so much to a TK army.
Khalida is perfectly viable to use. She makes a very effective list. A guy at my store runs a list with about 40 archers all in 10 man groups, a 20 man unit of TG w/ Khalida, 3 Liche Priests, 2x SSC, a unit of 3-4 Usabiti and a Tomb Scorpion or 2. Very effective defensive list.
I think Khalida is brilliant as well. Being a special character though means that she will often not fit into an army if people are basing it around another tomb king or area.
The model is one of the best for the tomb king characters in my mind it is a shame it has been withdrawn from the stores around here. I am thinking of mail ordering one to represent my tomb kings long dead queen in much larger point games.
I was just at Games Day Chicago and was watching a few battles, one of which was Tomb Kings with Khalida. He seemed to be doing well, but I never saw what she was doing.
I've only used Khalida three times. In my very first game, in which my opponent and I did all kinds of ridiculous bending(unknowingly) of the rules, she dealt much hand to hand death. Missed out on the poison arrow bit. My second use of her made me feel she was too nasty. Auto smiting and her bound spell. The third, and my most recent use of Khalida, was vs. a dwarf army, where her poison archers really helped wear down the dwarves.
I plan to use her again, especially when I feel like easing up on the magic and taking more troops, at least she ensures something is always happening in my magic phase.
I really like those poison hits.

Whats the army point value you guys use her at? Where does she start to be worth the investment, specially considering that your then paying 10 pts for each archer. I like her alot, but at 2150 pts im not sure shes worth using yet. maybe 3000?
Yeah she's nice...serving as HLP in my army (I like the model).
And the ground did tremble, as the king marched to war...
I am experimenting with putting Khalida into one of my army lists, but I have a couple questions on exactly how she's used.
The G-W faq states that she counts as a Tomb King for army selection. Does this mean that an army that uses her takes Chariots as core?
Also her 'Queen's Command' special rule states that she casts Smite once per magic phase and it cannot be dispelled. Under who's rules does this Smite cast? Is it like a Tomb Prince (only the unit she's with), a King (herself, the unit she's with, or within 6" of her) or a Liche (anyone within 12" of her).
And finally, is 'Queen's Command' the only spell she gets, or does she get to cast additional spells just like a Tomb King?
