Toxin Sacs don't provide a whole lot of benefit to a Brood Lord. I'd drop them in favor of Flesh Hooks (so he attacks simultaneously into cover). Quote:
A decent Ravener. You really need three of these (one in each FA slot) to make sure at least one makes it into combat. Good. That's a lot of hormies. No shooting broods? There may be some gap in your assault pattern (but if this has played well for you, stick with it). Why the rippers? Leaping rippers are great for making sure a slow-moving CC 'Fex gets the charge, but these guys are so much slower then the rest of your troops it's unlikely they'll accomplish anything (except get in your way as you have to detour troups around them). Good. Redundancy = good. Plus, Zoanthropes rock. Good. You might consider exchanging the Extended Carapace for Bonded Exoskeleton or Reinforced Chitin (depending on how much AP3 you usually see).

The assaulting pattern works out okay, since the BL and the genestealers are usually just a turn behind. My BL tends to sit behind cover and wait for the hormies to catch up, and then join the advance. Quote:

This list is actually written to include every single model that I have at the moment... hence the wierd hormie broods, lack of raveners, etc. But I think it still manages to be competitive. What would you add next, if you were going all-assault? I think warriors, raveners, and another zoanthrope are my top priorities. Then the fex will be downgraded to a cc-elite, only to pick up his guns if I ever get scared of skimmers again.

I love the all CC nid army ( I also cheat by adding a single gunaflex, Though it's because of the way he looks.) I like your Winged tyrant. Nice and cheap (as far as winged HT's go) However I see several problems with this army. The stealer brood is too small and will probably be shot up before they get into cc or at the very least be far fewer in number (my opponents always seem to target my stealers above anything else.) Hormoguant broods shouldn't usualy exceed 16 to 18 in size as they can become unmanagable in higher numbers. (can't hide in cover, etc...) I would also drop the AG(I) they quickly become to expensive (that 18 points could be used to buy another stealer) I would also drop both broods to 16 and add more stealers. I would replace the ripper as it is highly unlikly that he will achive anything by himself. I would drop the BL you could get nearly 5 more stealers, However if you wish to keep him. use him as distraction untill the rest of the army can reach cc, in this case however I would drop all biomorphs from him If you play cc nids its all about having mass numbers of troops. My suggested revised list would look like this. HQ: 178: Hive Tyrant w/ wings, 2xST, toxin sacs, warp field Elite: 114: 3x Warriors w/ scythes, rending, leaping, carapace, AG(I) Fast Attack: 40: 1 Ravener w/ scythes and rending Troop: 180: 9 GS's w/ carapace Troop: 180: 9 GS's w/ carapace Troop: 180: 9 GS's w/ carapace Troop: 160: 16 Hormies Troop: 160: 16 Hormies Heavy Support: 130: 2x Zoanthropes w/ SC and WB Heavy Support: 178: 1 Fex w/ VC, BS, senses, carapace This is all just advice from my experiance. however since you probably not only play agianst diffrent armys then I do but also use different stratagies I would suggest using the above with a grain of salt. =) |
