The Battle for Aurora Prime is under way! Tyranid players, check out the information thread here and get ready to participate in LO's first large scale Warhammer 40k campaign!

Faction Commanders

Each faction may nominate a forum member of that faction to be the faction commander during the Battle for Aurora Prime campaign. The faction commander will have access to special orders and privy to certain information that could grant additional bonuses to their faction for the campaign.

If you are interested in becoming the faction commander for this faction, please PM Lost Nemesis. Be sure to discuss it with your fellow faction players, try to come to a consensus on who you want to lead you!

Faction Fluff

“Continue.”

Interrogator Phadnos looked Inquisitor Zane in the eye “Are you sure?” he said “I doubt he will survive”.

The inquisitor nodded but said nothing.

Phadnos gave a slight shrug and left the observation gallery. A moment later he emerged in the room below. He ignored Bantos, who sat nervously, his bald head glistening under the heat of the arc light above him. Phadnos inserted a cartridge into a recording device and pressed the rune marked ON.

The Astropath turned to the interrogator and smiled weakly. “I’ll try to help if I can” he said. Phadnos nodded “I am sure you will” Phadnos told him what they wanted. Bantos vomited. At a signal from Phadnos two servitors entered and cleaned up the mess.

When Bantos had recovered slightly he turned to Phadnos. “I…I’m not sure I can do that” he said “I don’t think its possible.”

“It is possible” said Phadnos. The interrogator produced a roll of parchment and set it down in front of Bantos “It is the easiest thing. An easy thing that is important to us, to the Emperor. You want to help don’t you Bantos?”

“Yes I want to help.; But this….this is something…I’m…”

“Your scared” said Phadnos “Of course. The last few days have been filled with uncertainty. But now we need courage from our friends” Phadnos indicated the parchment It had a crude map of the sector drawn on it “What we want isn’t to hard. Finding something that’s big isn’t hard”.

Bantos said nothing but stared down at the map. He mumbled something that Inquisitor Zane couldn’t hear.

Phadnos leaned forward stroking the Astropaths bald head “come now Bantos, this is a good thing you do”.

Zane watched Phadnos cajole, threaten, comfort Bantos. Anything and everything to break him down. He was impressed but then Phadnos had always been his best. For that matter so had Bantos. He felt a slight twinge of guilt at what he was doing to the Astropath. He needed information though, and that was his sole priority. Confirmation had been received from Carag, but now scattered reports had filtered in from across the Gannos sub-sector. If something was moving towards Aurora Prime he needed to know.

Phadnos had broken Bantos and the Astropath had begun his search. The bald man inched his finger across the map laid out in front of him. Moving his digit away from the point marked Aurora towards the Eastern Fringe. He gave a low humming sound that gave way to what could only be described as a yawn. Then with his mouth gaping wide Bantos’s disembodied voice sounded out across the room.

“I see now. I feel now. Cold
The cold touch of the void.
I move.
I move silently.
So far
So alone
So Cold”

Bantos rolled his head this way and that. His skin turned a pale shade of red and his eyes rolled back in their sockets. The voice continued.

“I feel it now, nattering screaming shouting millions billions too many too many. Vast incompressible massive. You could never understand”

With an audible crack Bantos snapped his neck forwards and sat bolt upright. Inquisitor Zane noted with alarm that Bantos’s finger was burning a small hole through the map and the steel table beneath. The Astropath spoke with his mouth now.

“I am sleep. Deathless and waiting.
I am hunger. Never ending.
I am one. eternal and invincible.
I am Tyranid.”


With this Bantos let his head fall to one side his neck broken. His eyes bulged out of their sockets before bursting, splattering Phadnos’s robes. The Astropath shook violently and his skin turned crimson. Purple bruises appeared all across his face as capillaries burst. Then the Astropath gave a final spasm and vomited up a gout of blood, as gore streamed down from his nose and ears. Bantos collapsed off his chair.

For a moment the chamber was silent as Phadnos and the attending chuirgons, and scribes stood in a state of shock at their colleagues demise. The Inquisitor Zane left the observation gallery to enter the room below. He quickly strode across the room and hit the OFF rune on the recording device before ejecting the cartridge. He then swiftly picked up the map and rolled it up.

“Inquisitor Lord Von Striken must learn of these developments. It would seem that Chaos is not our only foe on Aurora Prime.”


The Tyranid swarm on Aurora Prime has for the moment been contained on Carag. The Hythun dynasty has so far been able to fend off the probing Tyranid attacks against Hythun Prime. The jungle surrounding the city is, however, completely overrun by Tyranid organisms. It will not be long before the xenos are strong enough to overwhelm Hythun Prime through sheer force of numbers.

Several inquisitorial teams have also noted odd phenomena amongst the ocean life on Aurora Prime. Early migrations of fish, a drop in numbers of ocean predators and a number of previously unknown toxins being found in the seas, albeit in trace amounts. The fear is that the Tyranids have not only reached the coastline of Carag but have succeeded in releasing their spores into the oceans.

[Process]

I will participate in strike force Tyranids. I will attack random territories unless otherwise instructed by faction commander. So we need one pronto.

What do you want the Aurora Prime Hive-Fleet colors to be? I require an Answer by Midnight GMT. Otherwise I will be forced to choose, and it might be something silly.

Might as well just go with the Hive Fleet Leviathan colors. They're solid colors.

We still need you guys to figure out a faction commander! Get your fellow Tyranid players interested in the campaign and get someone to step up! Have your nominated faction commander PM Process for additional information!
