Thread: Anyone else had to face this Cheesery?

I always take 3 Zoanthropes to help against high value AV. They would help keep his Falcons busy, though their range is poor.

How about two Flying Hive Tyrants assaulting his Falcons? Give both lots of Attacks + Warp Field and one Shadow in the Warp. Flying Warriors with Rending and 1x Venom Cannon might be handy too.

    couple of problems there =(
1-can't take two flying tyrants-they are one per FOC.
2-Even if you could, you'd still only be getting an average of one, 2 at most glancing hits per turn (give them 2 scything talons, bioplasma, and toxin sacs). This would gove you 6 attacks on the charge, and average of 1 hit, since you need 6's to hit skimmers in CC. Then, at S6, need to roll just under average (6) on 2d6 to inflict a glancing hit. Then you need to roll a set of 5's or 5&6 or 6's. So, for a mere 200 pts (if you could take them both), you get 33% hits total hits with 75% of those glancing, and 13% to kill it. That's a grand chance with 2 flyrants of 3% chance. Then add in the average of 1 hit combined from bioplasma, a S7, 5's to glance (33%), and the 5's+ to hurt(13%) and we get another 4% more, for a grand chance to kill them of 7% chance to kill 1 singe falcon for your two flying hive tyrants. And as for shadow in the warp-many an eldar take runes, thus negating this. But not eveyone does, meaning they'll fail guiding it (which isn't legal by the rules, but widely done nonetheless) an average of 1/12 with runes vs SotW, or 1/10 if they don't have ruins.
3-The warriors are in the same boat, but the 1 venom cannon per squad will actually be doing better than them assaulting, and will save you the points of flying, and will allow you a save vs all eldar guns since you can now put them in cover.
4-3 zoes, if not in cover, won't be getting into range to hurt the falcons for 2 to 3 turns, and will be sumarily starcannoned at ap 2. Thus won't make it.

So, that all said, best chances are through shooting. 2 Gun fex will average 1 BS between them and 2 venom cannons. VC will glance 85%, needing 13% to kill (roughly 11%) and BS will glance on 33%, needing the same 13% to kill-thus roughly 7%. Total chance to kill a falcon from shooting fexs-18%

Shooty warriors-3 with death spitters, barbed stranglers, and ts, along with rcs and EC cost 119. Taking 2 of these (238pts) gives an average of 2 death spitter hits at S6, so 33% glance, and 13% to kill. So total of 7%. But now they also get saves vs all guns.

Bio acid taken as SMC cost 12pts each. Using 3 gives you roughly 50% to hit (33 from direct scatter, plus the hull being 2 inches in most directions to still scatter on). So 150% from 3, with 7/36 to glance, and 13% to kill leaves you with 4% chance to kill for only 36pts.

If the zos could make it into range (mind you, if), that's 3/11 chance for a failed shot and take a wound on a 2+. Further, 50% miss rate (so total hit chance of 110%) 85% to glance, and 13% to kill. End result=12% chance, if they can make it through 3 turns of shooting and make it into range.

The plus side is that for any of the other hits, you'll usually be keeping it from shooting. This could allow you to close the range. Gaunts could be funny here as you can shoot out his back door after 3 turns, with fleshborers. Only problem there is running the warriors in enough cover to prevent from getting them killed quick.

Again, best of luck and have fun.
    My armies:
16,000+ of Eldar (only need flyers)
    7,000+ of Nids (want heirophant)
6,000+ of Space Marines (need rever titan)
4,400+ of Cygnar (all models for the faction)
    1,500+ of Legion (just started)
