for rules i don't have to have a story right? if i do then ill make 1 later...

Extended Carapace (+1 to SA, RA).....25

    WEAPON SYBIOTES
    Barbed Strangler..........25
    twin-linked deathspitter.......15
    twin linked devourer............10
    Venom cannon..............35

twin-linked weapons- makes the venom cannon OR barbstrangler if you took 1 you make make 1 a twinlinked weapon ex. i took 2 venom cannons and took this ability now 1 of the 2 venom cannons can be twin linked.

thought it be cool if the 'nids could actually have a tank (besides the fex). this is based on the fex in point wise for the biomorphs/weapons and starting pts. it has strength for the purpose of knowing how stroung the weapons will be. the Eetended Carapace was switch from Sv to side armour and rear armour for it doesn't have a save.

the biotank is made from consumed parts of metal and scrap of tanks fused with bio-genetic matarial. before the hive mind saw no point in the scraps of metal but then found a use for them and desided to make its own tanks. predator/leman russ with bio engine and parts, tyranid guns and upgrades on it (ex. for extended carapace you would put some carapce on the sides and rear of tank).

picture a leman russ or predator with tyranid guns and tyranid flesh covering it with metal plates on it and the trends are made of carapace.

As stated earlier in the thread, do not post compaints about others tyranids. I want to keep this thread positive and a bunch of people jumping in isn't going to solve a problem like this. Please pm me with any complaints or grieviances about others' creatures.

Shriker, you do not need a story, but you do need a brief description of what it is and what it looks like.

From now on, any corrections or additions to a creature, not adding your second one, but changing or adding things to the existing one, need to be editted into your origional post. When the time for voting comes, I will be linking to this thread, not reposting everything so that the voting thread wont be so long that no one can read it all. Please, for future reference do this and any creatures that have information split between several posts, please condense it into one post.

Entry for the FLUFF AND RULES
    Fluff
From the journals of inquisitor Arkanus, Date: 0737998.M41
The tyranid swarm had landed. Above ground the Imperial Guard were fighting in a tight formation, holding back the gaunts from the compound. They fought well, the Emporer would have been proud, but it was only a matter of time before the larger creatures started to advance and all was lost.
Twenty levels below ground, deep withing the heart of the Adeptus Mecanus compound 3 astropaths were trying in vain to send a message out into the warp for reinforcements. The Imperial battle fleet where communicating via vox, sending evacuation instructions and issuing co-ordinates for the drop ships to pick up all personel.
Suddenly a cry rang out from the main chamber and the astropaths fell silent. Their bodys slumped to the ground and an eerie silence fell upon the whole compound.
As I walked across the chamber i was forced to stop dead in my tracks as, in unison, all three astropaths rose up from the ground, four feet from the ground. They hovered there momentarily, just floating as if held up on invisible hooks untill the one closest to me opened his eyes and snapped back his head.
Green fire burst forth from his eyes, eminating with the sickly glow of warp taint and alien intent. I drew forth my laspistol and prepared to fire, but was stopped as all three began to speak.
"We must feed" the astropaths said. "we must feed and cleanse and grow and adapt. Why do you stop us? Why are you here? We must feed. We must not be stopped. We will learn, we will grow, WE WILL ADAPT AND WE WILL FEED."
Three small squeezes of the trigger and the voices stopped.

As I left the planet in the Imperial dropship I looked out at the devistated landscape. A red tide swept over everything, devouring all in its path. My attention suddenly snapped back toward the Mechanus outpost. Two hulking tyranids where there, tearing into the plasteel structure with huge crushing claws as if it were made from timber. And to the west, a third was approaching on six powerful legs. What speed, nothing that large should ever be able to move as fast. It stopped dead in its tracks, another dropship was flying past, desperate to escape the swarm. Fire glowed from its tail as it brought it up over its back and let loose a salvo of bio plasma. The dropship melted under the volley and crashed back into the swarm. More gene's for the great devourer.

    Description and Rules FAST ATTACK
The scorpiofex is a variant of the Carnifex, thought to have been created from encounters with the forces of chaos and in particular their devistator walkers.

    Thats it, hope you like!
;D This was a pretty interesting design, hope you don't mind me doing a little doodle of it. Oh, it doesn't have all the upgrades, I did it a while after I read your post :/ (and I hope this offtopic chatter won't offend anyone )

Heres my second entry, the Land Shark.

    Fluff

It had been thirty two hours. Thirty two long and arduos hours since the gargoyles had first descended, screaming bio plasma and firing borer beatles from their guns. The Imperial guard had done what they could to get the civillians back to the relative saftey of the compound to await extraction, but thousands had died.

Thirty two hours. If they could only hold out for another 2 hours then they would be safe. Fatige wouldnt of been a problem if they were Space Marines, but they wernt, and they were tired. The laser fences were all that stopped the swarms of alien's from surging forward and killing every last man woman and child. The auto cannons had long since ran dry. Three Basalisks and two Lemun Russ tanks stood by at the ready, but ammunition was running dangerously low.

A call came to the second squad of the 12th Tallerns. A laser fence generator had just exploded. That left three generators running. They would be enough to power the fence, but if another went down, the fence would fail. It was too risky, and they had held out too long now to just give up and die. The commander ordered three of his men out to the generator to see what they could do.

The three men ran out from the bunker and started across the sandy compound to the generator. The air was thick with miasma's and spores. Their eyes stung and sent tears streaming down their faces. They reached the generator and stared at the irreparable machine.

"It looks like something chewed through several of the high power cable's captain, im not su....."

In a flash somthing streaked across the sky and infront of the guardsman and before any of them could react his head fell to the floor, cleanly severed from his body.

The remaining two guardsmen stood staring at each other in disbelief. They looked around themselves frantically searching for a target but none presented itself. Suddenly to the captains left the sand moved and another creature, no bigger than a small cat lept forward and struck the captain. He spun to fire upon it before he even realised that his gun arm was laid beside him on the floor.

The captain screamed and in blind panic the two men ran back towards the bunker. The sand around them churned and creature after creature leapt up from the ground and towards the running men before quickly burrowing back down under the sand. The captain died next. He caught one of the creatures full in the face and his head was split cleanly down the middle. The remaining guardsman fired round after round into the sand infront of him until he found himself lying face down, his leg laid several feet away from him. He had just enough time to arm grenade before his was dragged underground to his death.

    Rules

The Land Shark is a swarm unit, attacking from undergound in great numbers and striking with great speed and agility. It is a distant relative to the ripper swarms but has grown a large dorsel fin from its back and its limbs have mutated into powerful shovels. It senses its prey through vibrations in the earth and attacks by launching itself from the ground, using its dorsel fin to slice the enemy as it passes, then burrows back down.

    pts 15 strenth 3 wounds 3 Initiative 1 Attacks 2 ld 10

Brood: A Land Shark swarm consists of between 3-10 bases

Bio weapons: All Land Sharks come with a Rending dorsel fin.

    Special rules:
    Sharks are fearless.

Movement: Land Sharks have the scuttle, infiltrate and fleet movement rules.
Land sharks ignore all terrain as it is above ground and they are beneath it. They cannot however attack any units that are placed above ground level. (On a bunker roof or in a skimmer for example) they also cannot attack any units that are stood on a hard, artificial surface such as concrete or steel.

Due to the unique qualitys different rules apply to attacks made by and directed towards Land sharks. The land shark attacks in the shooting phase. When the Land shark attacks its base must be at least 2" from its target and always hits on a 4+. Rolls of 6 count as rending and follow the rending rules. For wounding use the Sharks S3 as normal.

Sharks can only be seen from the movement of the ground. Because of this they can only be fired at from 16" away. As they are hidden underground, aiming is impossable so sharks can only be hit on a roll of 5+ regardless of BS. Each hit automatically removes 1 wound from the shark, no rollin to wound is required and no armour save is allowed. In addition, flamers are useless, but blast weapons will kill any base completely covered automatically and any base partially covered on a roll of 6.

Sharks cannot assault or be assaulted.

Sharks cannot hold table quarters or hold any objective.

Oh, I like this one But I don't think it would ever reach a table top, because they are practically invulnerable. Maybe you could ease on the return fire rules (within 12" it can be shot, they only can be hit on 5+ and stuff). Don't know if this reply is against the rules or something, if so, let me know, and I'll remove it.

ok, i changed it to 16" away. I still think the 5+ hit rule is suitable for this. After all, you cant see your target, your just firing blind into the soil, and if you have a blast weapon, you can pretty much wipe out these critters and a squad of 10 marines, firing 20 shots into the swarm is almost garenteed to take out a fair few bases!

    Updates

Okay, the final due date is set for the end of the year. You guys will have up till then to enter new creatures, add rules or fluff or chance your existing ones around some.

Now, I would like to discuss voting. When we do vote for the final, I was wondering how you guys think we should vote. For instance I don't beleive that all the rules entries should be layed out first and then the person with the most votes wins. The problem I have with this is that there are a lot of entries in this contest and many people may not even look at half of them before voting. Therefore I was thinking that after the initial voting for a category that has over 5 competators, we have another voting thread were the top 5 from the first thread are voted on, so that the votes aren't spread so much that a creature with 3 votes would win. What does anyone think of that idea. Any others are appreciated.
