    Tunnelers

    Rules:

    A new variant of ravener has emerged from the tyranid spawning pools. Better suited for launching suprise attacks from beneath the surface this new breed has been created using genes from the warriors, raveners and a yet unknown species. Its razor sharp claws are covered in a thin layer of highly corrosive acid which can melt through plasteel and rockrete with ease. It also has the ability to spray a broad area with this acid. It walks on two sets of scything talons but in combat it can balance on its two hind talons while attacking with the other pair and its claws. This specimen has shown traces of psychic abilities linked to those of the Genestealer genus. No studies have been carried out on the corrosive substance as so far no container has been found which can carry this unknown substance.
    Resembles a large beetle with a shiny black shell covering its back and head. Moving on all limbs when not in combat keeping itself protected form enemy fire although the few survivors who fought it in close combat have remarked that when it gets close it reers up on its hind limbs exposing a less protected underbelly.

    Brood size: between 1 and 3 tunnelers, but only one choice may be made per army. Thus you can only have a maximum of 3 tunnelers per army.

    weapon symbiotes: Scything Talons, Bio-Acid, Flesh Hooks, toxin sacs, Acid maw, Digging claws.

    Bio-morphs: Adrenal glands (I): 3pts
    (WS): 2pts
    Toxin sacs: 5pts

    Special Rules:

    Digging claws: Covered in acid these rock hard claws never allow better than a 4+ armor save in close combat.

    Bio acid: May be used as Bio-Plasma or may be used in the shooting phase using the stats below
    Str: 3| Ap: 3| Assault 1 template|
    may only be used in one way per turn.

    Burrow: May deep strike even if the mission being played usually wouldn't allow these
    rules. If the brood scatters onto difficult terrain it is not destroyed but placed the
    minimum distance away to prevent being destroyed. If it scatters into an enemy
    unit it is not destroyed but instead counts as assaulting that unit but does not
    benefit from +1 attack.

    Fleet of claw

    (*)special carapace: When not in close combat the tunneler/s benefit from a 3+ Sv and 5 toughness because of their thick carapace. When in combat reduce this to 4+ Sv and 4 toughness to represent its soft underbelly. This effects instant kills in bothe circumstances.

    The marines of the Thunder Wings chapter were battling for survival. They had lost almost all of the chapter to the Tyranids of Hive Fleet Cerebrus. Brother Captain Marius and his terminator squad were some of the few survivors. They had taken position in the last remaining fortification on the planet with a fifty or so imperial guard and two squads of ten strong Tactical marines. They had made tactical retreats, strategicaly withdrawn but they had nowhere else to run. They would have to make a stand. Marius knew it was hopeless but said nothing so as not to demoralize the already drained defenders.
    "Man the walls. They're coming back!"
    The weakend men rose to they're feet knowing their end was nigh.
    "Take aim and fire at will"
    The gunfire was deafing as countless bugs fell to the imperial fire. Lasfire and explosive shell met thick carapace. Brother Tacitus let fly with his heavy bolter watching his ammo counter slowly decrease until it began to flash red. There was no need to aim. They couldnt possiblt miss. He heard the click, click, click of the empty cartridge and drew his bolt pistol. Thousands of empty bolter and autocannon shells bounced on the rockcrete fortifications. Marius and his terminators took point in front of the doors. They were as good as useless at the walls as their storm bolter and assault cannon clips had almost run dry.
    Marius heard a howl over the comm channel and turned around to see beetle like creatures slithering out of a hole through the rockcrete floor with one already on the surface a clawed hand firmly lodged in of the terminators breastplates. It wasn't possible. Nothing he had ever seen had been able to dig through rockcrete before and it had made a mockery of the terminator armor slicing through it like it had been made of tin. There was 5 of them inside the walls now. Two more scampered from the tunnel. Three of them were coming towards the terminators while the other two slithered towards the gaurdians of the walls. Marius opened fire with his strom bolter but his high explosive shells couldn't penetrate the thick black shell which protected the tyranid from all arms fire. Marius barked commands to the tactical squads on the walls but watched in horror as a bright green jet of acid shot from the creatures mouths leaving one of the squads in a steaming pile of slag. Marius rounded on the nearest creature as it reered on its hind legs exposing a fleshy underbelly. He grinned as he thrust his power fist into the bugs soft belly destroying its insides. He turned to find another as a ball of acid hit him in the shoulder. His armor dissolved in seconds burning into the skin and melting its way to one of his hearts. Acid mixed with blood as electric shocks surged through his bodys nervous system. He had enough time left to see the plasteel gates smashed in by a pair of hulking carnifexes and then he was no more.

    Calm down.

    I've been going through finals and prefinal tests along with playing concerts and such, god school sucks, plus I'm going out of town for part of this weekend, so it may not be updated every day, but every post will be read, don't worry.

    SPECIAL RULES:

    PSYCHIC RESONATOR:
    If one of these is within range of a synapse creature, then it amplifies the signal and itself countas as a synapse node.

    Fleet of Foot: self explanatory

    PSYCHIC EMANATIONS: all tyranid units with at least 1 model within 18" have +1 to leadership for all tests be they leadership, or psychic etc.

    Independent character: don't tell me you don't know about this...

    Okay, well I'm going to be away for about a week so I guess I'm going to do this now. The contest is finally almost over and pretty soon we will be voting. A few last minute announcements I want to make though.

    *Any submissions after the time everything is due will not be counted.
    *No changes may be made and no entry posts can be edited after the due date without my approval. (Some examples of things that would warrent approval of a change include if copyright is being broken by your entry, you are having technical problems such as Kklopio, etc, not that you just want to make it better)
    *Any approved changes still need to be made before the voting occurs which will probably be about a week or so after the contest ends. If you don't, it will remain that way or if it breaks copyright, it will be removed.


    Good luck and if there are anymore people out there who want to enter, you better do it fast.
