Rep Power: 129 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | This thread is dedicated to listing really effective or fun builds for Carfnifexes and Hive Tyrants. It is meant as a reference tool for people who are new to nids and experts a like to learn from. Please post your posts in the following format: Species: Species name: Bioweapons: Biomorphs: Total Cost: Tactical Advise: Extra Notes: Remember. Do NOT post direct points costs. I woud like this thread to be easy to read and efficient. So any erroneous comments which are irrelevant will be summarily deleted. Also, please try to keep to the above format - for ease of reference. While I'll correct those that don't, this will only be as far as my patience last. Generally, I'll just delete those suggestions which don't keep to this format. Here's an example: Species: Carnifex Species name: Dakka Fex/Devil Fex Bioweapons: Twin linked Devourer x 2 Biomorphs: Enhanced senses, flesh hooks. Total Cost: 114 points Tactical Advise: Point and shoot. A horrendous amount of high strength attacks which are both accurate and very likely to wound. Truly the bane of pretty much any infantry units. Also, incredibly cheap and cheerfull. Extra Notes: Fits into Elite slots nicely. Right lads and ladies, take it away ++ EDIT ++ Also, please don't quick reply. Actually include the name and total point cost in the title of your entry please

Rep Power: 42 ![]() ![]() ![]() | Species: Tyrant Species name: Dakka Flyrant Bioweapons: Twin linked Devourer x 2 Biomorphs: Enhanced senses, warp field, wings, toxin sacs Total Cost: 196 Tactical Advise: devastating. If you can keep this thing out of cc, it will do more damage than a close combat tooled tyrant ever will. it makes up for the point of strength under the dakka fex in its enhanced ballistic skill, and speed of delivery, meaning you should get at least two additional shooting phases out of this monster, PLUS the extra base attack of the tyrant means you get an extra FOUR shots out of the tyrant than the fex. A little thought of tactic is going after tough small squads or monsters with it, yes you will need to roll high to wound, but you will be rerolling on average 8 dice, you WILL wound. Extra Notes: a good fast synaptic point as well. thanks to Lictor1989 for exact points costs.

*drool*What an Awesom-tastic-ulous thread! Species: Hive Tyrant Species name: ummm I dunno Swiss Shooty Knife?Bioweapons: 2x Twin Linked Devourers Biomorphs: Enhanced Senses, Toxin Sacs, and Warp Blast.. don't really need much else, unless for bigger games Total Cost: 131 (266 with Guard?) Tactical Advise: Cheapish. The shooting for every situation, great support beast. Extra Notes: Give It 3x Tyrant Guard. The extra wounds will ensure the enemy invests time and firepower to silence the threat of the Tyrants versitility, and the extra attacks/rending will help the Tyrant in combat... very good I like this one.Edit: Shadow in the Warp is great too, as this beastie should be hanging around a long time, and cause the opponent to pour even more firepower his way. Make use of the Guard!!

Rep Power: 51 ![]() | Species: Carnifex Species name: Sniper Fex Bioweapons: Venom Cannon and Barbed Strangler Biomorphs: (Minimum)Enhanced Senses,(Recommended but optional)Extended Carapace, Reinforced Chitin, Bonded Exoskeleton Total Cost: 148 points - Thanks to Papa Karmoon for this. Tactical Advise: This is our vehicle killer. While the venom cannon can only glance, 2 str 10 shots a round will pop a vehicle in short order. The BS is good for open topped vehicles and also taking out groups of infantry if you have no vehicles to kill. With the optional upgrades he will be a walking tank who is extremely tough to take out. Extra Notes: Avoid things with rending and power fists like the plague...its high toughness will help it against regular people with power weapons. Last edited by Karmoon; May 18th, 2007 at 15:11. |

Species: Hive Tyrant Species Name: Flyrant (of the close combat variety) Bioweapons: 2x Scything talons Biomorphs: Wings (required), and some combination of the following Toxin Sacs, Flesh Hooks, Adrenal Glands (both kinds), Toxic miasma, Warp Field. Total cost: Min ~130, kitted out ~210 Tactical Advice: This thing will make your oponent wet himself. Use it as a flanker and to draw fire and attention away from the rest of your troops. It moves 12 inches, and with warp field it's very difficult to take down. The best thing about the wings is that you can almost certainly pick who you engage, rather than having to go for the first thing you see, take advantage of that to avoid hidden powerfists and other nasties. Try to jump him from behind cover to cover. Extra notes: Provides synaptic support, plus the psych value, play up its speed and power in close combat. If the oponent fears this more than anything else he'll ignore things like stealers and you can use that to your advantage.

Rep Power: 50 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Species:Carnifex Species name:Ninjafex/Adrenalfex Bioweapons:2 Scything Talons Biomorphs:AG(WS), Toxic Miasma, flesh hooks Total Cost:114 Tactical Advise:Now for all of you folks out there that want to have a CC fex but are always going overboard with upgrades and everyone says that they are a waste of points heres your chance to use em. Being that he is extremley cheap and that you could probally get two of them for one loaded out carnifex. Also the most imporntant part is this guy can hit SM on 3+ with AG(WS) and toxic miasma. Extra Notes:Can fit very well into an elite slot and don't forget you should always put the flesh hooks on as there is nothing funnier then have a fex go simo with anyone in cover .

Rep Power: 63 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Species: Carnifex Species name: Grendelfex Bioweapons: Venom Cannon, Twin-Linked Devourer Biomorphs: Enhanced Senses, Spinebanks, (defensive upgrades, see notes) Total Cost: 143+ (see notes) Tactical Advise: This is in direct answer to skimmers and will glance almost any vehicle to death with 2 S10 and 6 S6 attacks when in range, but it can still fire the Venom Cannon while it trudges across the field into range. 2 of these beasties on the table will strike fear into the hearts of all tank commanders and will also cause massive casualties to all but the most heavily armored infantry with 6 attacks re rolling to hit and 4 re rolling to wound. Extra Notes: Bonded Exoskeleton, Extended Carapace & Reinforced Chitin are optional but some combination of these is greatly suggested to increase longevity due to the mid to short range nature of the Grendelfex. Personally I prefer the combination of Bonded Exoskeleton and Extended Carapace. A unit of rippers swarming around his feet will prevent him from being charged by Powerfisted squads or other MC's. I use this Carnifex instead of the traditional Sniperfex due to the single shot of the expensive Barbed Strangler missing 50% of the time which just irritates me too much to stand using it. Also, it suits my aggressive play style.

for the sniperfex, also dont forget open topped vehicles are vulnerable to blasts, making the barbie even more useful against them

Species: Tyrant Species name: Doom Tyrant Bioweapons:Venom Cannon, tl Devourer Biomorphs:Toxin Sacks, Enhanced Scences, Extended Carapace Total Cost:174 pts Tactical Advise:Great fire support for a shooty nids army or a godzilla list. 9 total ranged attacks, and all with the power to take down light vehicles. Extra Notes: i like the Doom Tyrant variant because the venom cannon gives you the ability to engage at a range while you close in to devourer range. once within 18 inches, open fire.

Species: Carnifex Species name: Baitfex Bioweapons: Venom Cannon, Twin-Linked Devourer Biomorphs: Enhanced Senses, Bonded Exoskeleton, Extended Carapace, Regeneration, Reinforced Chitin Total Cost: 228 Tactical Advice: This is one expensive beast that is designed solely with presenting as big of a threat to a player while being possibly able to absorb the punishment that comes its way. With the exception of mass lascannon or plasma min/max squad, this beast represents a threat that many people will send huge volumes of firepower to try and kill. With the number of wounds it has and a toughness that renders either immune to or wounding on a "6" for every other basic grunt weapon in the game, this monster will attract large volumes of firepower which could be better spent taking out piles or gaunts or stealers. So long as it is alive, it may regenerate enough to continue to be a threat throughout the game. Kudos to the Carnifex Biomorph Tactica Author that gave me the idea to put this into print
