Well I used to be a regular, but now the Letchworth club has gone downhill alot for older gamers. I was managing to get some of them to play better, but I took 3 months away, and when I went back things were terrible. None of the organisers play 40k, so there is no one to organise things, and the couple of older gamers seem only to play games involving two armies setting up on a table with no scenery and just shooting at each other. I've given up on the place. However, there is a club to the East of Stevenage that I went to for the first time on Sunday with a few friends of mine, and that seems promising. They meet once every month, and seem to be much closer to my way of playing, and the gamers are mostly older. So I'd advise that one over Letchworth by a long shot, especially as you are significantly closer to my age than most of the Letchworth gamers. Another option is my place I currently have a 4'x4' Cities of Death and a 4'x6' regular table. A few mates and I usually meet up on a Saturday to play some games in my garage. We're open to more people joining us occasionally, so thats an option to you.Feel free to contact me if you have any more questions.

Just thought i'd update this thread, i popped along on monday night (30th june) to see what the letchworth club was like and wasn't terrificaly impressed to be honest, lots of kids sort of kind of playing 40k ish, and one older bloke playing a kid and to be honest he didn't have much of a clue, rules wise that is. Seems to me there's a gap in the market for something in or about letchworth focused on tabletop gaming rather than role-play/magic the gathering. If there's enough people interested then i'll look into it further. I'm based in Royston but work in letchworth so those are my two preferential places of blood angel/nid/chaos/necron/flavour of the month tomfoolery. I also play/ed A&A Miniatures and Starship Battles (House rules all the way), and recently acquired some pirate ships made of card which seem to be entertaining, but i haven't tried them in anger yet. Any opinions, please do reply! |

I'd be interested. Don't play much in the week these days, and 40k has been more of a winter activity for me in the alst year or so, but I'd be willing to give it a shot. If you do find yourself coming up short though, see my post above, it has a couple of other alternatives

Ah Calden.....didn't know you're active here ![]() I still go to the letchworth club regularly, admittingly I havn't played much warhammer recently, i normally mingle with the magic the gathering group since my friends are more interested in that these days -.- heh you happened to go the day I went off on holiday, you'll find games are booked a week in advance between players there or friends happen to want to play and grab a table early. If you have a game and need someone to help on rules or whatnot I'm normally on the magic table......with like two cups of fruit and some pasta salad lol. The guys who run the club are also pretty cool, they play mainly fantasy but they may have 40k armies, I never really asked.
