Hey Guys/Girls, Im new to WHFB. I just picked up a copy of the VC Army book and have decided to take this army as my first. After reading some other forums and suggestions im going to take my first crack at a 1000pt army list. Any comments are welcome. (feel free to dig into the list and rip it a new one if thats what it takes to put me on the right path) So here we go.
Skeletons x20-Light Armour, Spears, Full Command
Skeletons x20-Light Armour, Full Command
Dire Wolves x5
Dire Wolves x5
Now if i counted correctly that comes up to be 950pts. That leaves 50 points to work around with before changes to the list are made. I would like to try and keep the skeletons in the list instead of zombies(personal preference i guess). If i can get a rare or special choice in there that would be great. Maybe drop a unit or the thrall or something? Please post suggestions for upgrades and bloodlines as well. Thanks
Looks like a decent force, what do i know though :swoon:

It's Deja-Vu! Tht looks almost EXACTLY the same as mine. As for the list, it looks great. Now about the bloodline, it depends on your strategy, Raising=Necrach, Combat=Blood Dragons and Strigoi, etc. If you still can't decide, it's safe to go with Von Carestein with no ups or downs about them.
The Rep Thumb is to the left of my post, in case you didn't see it.
At 1000 points Nechrach aren't that effective, but apart from that any bloodline is good.
Personally I'd use the spare points to tool up your characters, even if it's just mundane armour and weapons for the thrall (depending on bloodline).
I'd also be tempted to drop the spears from the skeletons to free up some more points for your magic items.
2000AD's answer to all "How do VC deal with ..." questions: Forbidden Lore + 2 Power Stones.
Further answers will require more vodka.
I'm not a huge fan of spears on skeletons, they aren't really there to kill stuff which the spears are supposedly there to help with. I would drop the spears and use the 70 pts you have left to get some gear for your heroes. Maybe a Book of Arkhan and Staff of damnation.
Possibly drop the thrall as he is (no bloodline powers or gear.) along with some of your skellies (with 2 necros and 2 boudn spells you can save some dice to boost them later with Invocation) to get a unit of 5 black knights. This way you will have a hard hitting unit.
