    New VC Army

Hey Guys and Gals. I'm considering a new army and since I've been rockin' the VC in BloodBowl, figured I might give them a shot in WFB. Going to start small and see how things go from there... That said, how is this for 500pts?

    Necromancer
    - LVL 2, Rod of Flaming Death

    Skellies (14)(necro goes here)
    - HW, Shield, LA, Mus.

    Skellies (15)
    - HW, Shield, LA, Mus.

    Dire Wolves (5)

    500pts

Thinking of moving across field (with wolves on a flank), shooting with the rod (or bolstering units as necessary). When close enough, hopefully create a new unit to combine a charge with the wolves into an enemy unit. And see what happens next...

    Questions are...

    Is it a sound plan?

Should I take the ROFD or the Book of Archaon?

    More troops? Armored differently?

    Any opinions appreciated!

You should exchange with Book of Arkhan
    Skellies (14)(necro goes here)
    - HW, Shield, LA, Mus.
    Too small, command

    Very nice addition

You need to get your units up to 20, even if it means loosing one unit, or doing zombies. Other then that, you need a standard in each unit. VC wins not my killing stuff (at least with core units), but by crushing there foe in combat result and outnumber them. That auto-breaks (unless snake eyes). That is why you need to maximize US, rank and banner!
On a final note, be sure to look into the Border Patrol rules (on GW site), which is a GREAT way to do 500pt games. making it easy for new players to get into both the normal rules, and the army-specific rules!

    OK, made some changes.

As I see it, my new strategy would be to keep moving forward, bolstering as needed, then create a new unit to disrupt flow on opposing line when close enough to charge? Hopefully getting a flank from the wolves and maybe causing a failed Fear check?

Also, would perhaps a unit of 15 Ghouls instead of the zombies be a better plan? Would bring my total to 497.

I know there aren't exactly a lot of options at this level, just looking to learn what I can...

This is a very solid army, just remember that they only flee if you outnumber them(both on charges and CR), so use the dire wolves as a flank charger, to insure the opponent doesn't get his rank bonus on that very expensive unit. Also they are good at running things down (ie. that evil nasty unit)

i think this is a very nice list accept putting 15 ghouls in 1 unit isn't a good idee i think because if they flee you have lost your screen or wathever you are using them for so put them in 2 groups of 7 and make the one dire wolf a champion(i don't remember the name of a dire wolf champion) for challenging heroes and champions in other units so your own wolves won't die because of you enemy strong caracters or unit champions

this is my opinoin on this list

i always play with this list
1 unit black knights(6) full com and warbanner
2 or 1(i lost my list) unit ghouls(7)
    5 dire wolves
necro on horse with barding and book of arhan

this maybe isn't a good list against shooting army's but much fun to play against fighting army's like chaos ( my best friend plays with them)
i like playing with cav list
    SO MUCH FUN 8Y ;Y

I agree with a lot wout said, but upgrading dire wolves (or ghouls for this matter) to champions is a big no-no.

10 Points for the ability to challenge charachters and champions? This will only be useful if you charge in the front of a unit, which dire wolves shouldnt be doing anyway.

A better use for those 10 points would to get another wolf really.
