Ok, I've got a local tournament coming up. It's a 1000 point introductory tournament to try and get more people playing fantasy. I'm gonna run VC because I've got some old models from an aborted attempt to learn 6th ed. VC. Are there any changes anyone can see making without drastically altering the list below?
I'm considering dropping the dire wolves for a starting unit of zombies, rather than raising them all up. I'm also considering losing the flayed hauberk and sword of battle for a waluchs hauberk.

I like the hero choices. I tend to play against high elves a lot so often take nightshroud on the vamp, but as an all comers list, I like your setup.
It might be a bit ambitious to try to get a big unit of zombies made as well as getting both skelly units up past 20. I tend to about have enough magic to get those skelly units into play and a couple of well placed vanhel's.
I would keep the wolves or maybe consider fell bats, but I'd not leave ya varghulf all on its lonesome.

This looks like a very promising tournament list. I do like the form and the unit numbers, as they will be resistant, but can be strengthened.
The only thing I would do is to drop one dire wolf and the ghast off of the the ghouls in exchange for 2 more ghouls. The main reason for this is the extra wounds on this unit, and that a 7 wide unit of wolves will be difficult to position with terrain. I think 6 wide will serve you better in the long run.

Thanks for the responses, I'm glad your generally positive. What does everyone think about losing the armor and weapon for a waluchs hauberk. I'd lose the extra attack and be at only a 3+ regular save, but I would have a ward save just in case.
Based on the test game I played the other night I'll have to keep the Varghulf hidden behind some skeletons. I can't really run him alone.
The other option is to use the Varghulf to allow the Dire Wolves to march and use them as a screen.
I test played this list and like it. I'd agree with ninja on the tweaks - every ounce of shooting seems to go at the big scareh Varghulf so dont worry about loosing 1W on the wolves.
As for the vampire - I personally liked 4 attacks for killing the front rank and would go that route if it was my list, but the logical choice is usually to keep your general on the table.
I'll be doing some play testing tomorrow night, I'll try dropping the wolf and the ghast for some more ghouls.
I'm having some trouble with charging characters, one of my friends is running a nasty lizardman character that has a 9 inch move magic item and something that gives him +1 attack on a charge. 5 str 7 attacks just cut me apart the other night. This is mostly my fault, I didn't get keep my general properly screened though.
