Well this is a new list and I'm just looking for a little feedback before the LA games day tourny. Thanks in advance guys.
Vampire (goes with the blood knights)
Book of Arkhan
corpse cart w/ bale fire
5 dire wolves
5 dire wolves
8 black knights
SB (were filler points and guess they would give me a little more menuverability)
5 blood knights
Comes to 2k even yay! =D But feel free to rip this list apart and tell me what yall think.
I think it's a great list, I usually have a little more magic and some dispell scrolls but I think this list would do really well, I might try it out when I get some more ghouls
Ya I can see some magic armies giving me a hard time. I'm going for more of a blitz style army with ghoulkin and the calvary. This is still a 6 pd army so hopefully Ill be able to invo through any punishment.
I count 7 pd, and 6 dd, could be worse , u could maybe swap 1 black knight for a dispell scroll? The Black knights don't have rank bonus anyways with 8.
I have two suggestions:
First, you have a low magic army, which means that it would be hard for you to re-animate your Blood Knights one at a time if you happen to lose a few. To avoid having to even try that, I'd suggest that you set up the Vampire in the Blood Knights unit thus:
Vampire: Blood Drinker, Dread Knight and Walking Death.
Then give the Blood Knights a standard bearer with the Strigoi banner. Blood Knights with Hatred kill just about anything on the charge and your Vampire will bring back any that have fallen with his Blood Drinker.
Second, I'd probably ditch the necro and corpse cart for another Vampire. You'll need him to add more Ghouls and to help them generate CR. You can even make him the BSB.. the Ghouls need it more than the Knights do!
Vamp: BSB: War Banner, Avatar of Death (GW, or whatever), Infinite Hatred, Summon Ghouls.
At a measly (well, not really) 190 pts each, these Vampires would save you some points and add a bit of punch to your Ghouls.
Also, if you decided that you wanted to keep the Corpse Cart or the Necro (but not both) you could easily chop that Black Knights unit down to 5 (usually the optimal number) and fire the musician.

Zatarra: Ya I think getting the dispell scroll is a must so I'll deffinitly be doing this. Hopefully I'll be able to put the balefire to good use and it'll do me some good.
Psyan: I see what you're saying. Of my 7 pd I'll say maybe 4 will go off if I'm lucky... and of those perhaps 3-4 will be getting dispelled AND I'll need them for my ghouls anyways so my crazy 49387982 point unit will not be able to be replenished. I hadn't even thought of that. But with the Stroigi banner I'll have to hide the knights until they are ready for a charge because they are going to have a VERY big target on their backs. I may be able to replenish them but I'm hoping to avoid this altogether with the Drak banner and use invo to keep up the ghouls. I find that if I save 3 dice and blow 4 on invo to start my opponents are willing to let them go because they want all the dice they can get for the "scary" spell coming. I'll have to play with both ideas of course
I'd put atleast drakenhof or flag of blood keep on the blood knights, if ur adding the blood drinker vampire to the blood knights then flag of blood keep is a nice option (lol blood everywhere ), though I am a bigger fan of draknehof , yes its a costly unit but a great force on the battlefield.
I really like this list. I am new to VC and have only played 1k battles with them. However I've been juggling some various builds for a 2k so that i know what models to invest in. I was originally thinking of going more magic heavy with skeletons as a core and a more paced attack. Reading this list really got me excited about the fast paced tactics it allows. Just a few questions?
Where are you putting your Lord?
How far will you move with your ghouls on the ghoulkin move?
Will all three units of ghouls be at the center of deployment with knights on the side?
What units will you screen with your fast cav? Or will they be on the extreme flanks?
Just a few basic tactical questions as I am trying to understand the mechanics of the different builds.
I'm planning on blocks of ghouls with knights on the flanks. Wolves will screen for the knights and gulf. They always get shot up anyways so I guess they serve their purpose.
The lord will go in the center block just to make sure everyone can march. I can't see myself not burning the full Free move. If I need to stop I can use MY sovement phase to think but I want to take full advantage of the ghoul move. If I can move up my blocks quickly enough and dance with them you have 3 units of ghouls in your face beggining turn2 with HARD hitting Calvary as flankers and there is still the Gulf. It's going to be interesting to see in action.
So if your opponent deploys at the edge of his zone and you get enough danses off there is no reason you couldn't be charging at least some of your ghouls first turn and anything attempting to flank will be subject to a bloodbath courtesy of your knights the following turn.
This brings me to another thought that is perhaps deserving of its own thread... which is; what is too far to move the ghouls if you have first turn to avoid the risk of them being charged? Or do you just hang them out there for all comers?
Finally if danse is as important as it seems would it not be worth paying 15 pts to assure your necro picks it up?
