This is a first draft of a VC list that empasises (for fluff) the Striogi's and Varghulf's natural affinity for ghouls. I'd prefer to keep this feel for the army as being a more 'bestial' VC army, and hence I've included no necromancers, or skeletons
The general idea is that this is a roving, savage band of vampires -outcasts from when Strigos fell.
Vampire (General): Flying Horror, Flayed Hauberk
Vampire: Summon Ghouls (unsure about items)
14 Ghouls + Ghast
14 Ghouls + Ghast
3 Bat Swarms
3 Fell Bats
As it stands, this is a little over 1000pts.
The strategy is to keep one vampire with the ghouls (to res.) as a backbone, while the swarms, bats, varghulf and general flank, and hunt siege/ ranged units. I'm hoping the flayed hauberk gives him some survivability in that regard.
Comments especially concerning the appropriate items and spells for vamps., and core troops would be much appreciated!
Well if you are trying to stay around 1000 pts. it is not a bad list. As you approach 1500 you may want to make the Ghoul units larger, and give a Vamp Ghoulkin. Also drop the bat swarms for either Dire wolves or more Fell Bats. A Varghulf (or 2) with a few units of dire wolves can eat their way through a weak to medium flank. You may also want a vamp with Summon Creatures of the Night, if you are going to have multiple Bat and Wolf units. This list will have trouble versus highly armored forces (heavy cav) unless you get the charge with your ghouls and are lucky with the poisonous attacks.
