Okay, so I'm looking at my collection, and I've decided to create a 2K army. The plan is pretty simple. My grave-gaurd will hold the center of the army for me, while my lord and the two black-knight units head off to work the flanks. My Felbats are used to silence warmachines. The vampire Hero, tries to stay out of combat, and instead uses the Helm of Commandment to boost the Grave Gaurd unit so that they are hitting on 2s, and resurrecting/adding to the other nearby units with the Lord of the Dead. What's everyone think? Should I maybe drop the points to 1500 to be more competetive?
Lvl3 Vampire Lord w/ Infinite Hatred, Red Fury, Dread Knight, Blood Drinker, Staff of Damnation, Talisman of Protection
Vampire BsB w/ Drakenhof Banner, Dark Acolyte, Avatar of Death
@ 300 (goes with Grave Guard)
Vampire w/ Dark Acolyte, Lord of the Dead, Helm of Commandment, Cadaverous Cuirass
20 Skeletons w/ Standard Bearer
20 Skeletons w/ Standard Bearer
14 Grave Guard w/ standard bearer, banner of the barrows
6 Black Knights w/ barding, hell knight, standard bearer, standard of hellish vigor
6 Black Knights w/ barding, standard bearer, warbanner
3 Fel Bats
Does your Vampire Lord plan on joining any units? if not he is war machine/magic bait and his Blood Drinker is pretty useless.
Trade the Sword and Talisman for Walach's Bloody Hauberk to get a 1+ As and 5+ Ws. Staff of damnation I don't care for much but thats just a personal opinion.
Is your Vampire with the Helm going to be part of a unit? again I suspect he will get picked off especially since he has no kind of protection. The Helm + Barrows banner is a great combo.
Your strategy is sound with a good solid core and skeletons to guard its flank. Black Knights to out flank the enemy with their good movement and armour. 5 Fell bats would be better but 3 makes a nice distraction.

I was planning on using that vampire lord to join the unchampioned Black Knights unit. They would either serve as a delivery system for him, he'd leave for a turn and then charge into a squishy unit on his own, or he's stay with them and fight as a unit of 7.
The other vampire, with the Helm, is confusing. I want her (female model) to be staying away from combat so that she can use the helm. The skeletons and gravegaurd are all in the main line, so they'd likely be getting into combat all at the same time. I was going to leave her outside the units as a support vampire. Unfortunately, I can't think of a way to protect her. I was thinking of perhaps raising a small unit around her to give her some cushion.
I have a suggestion but it changes your army around a bit by reversing the Lord and Hero's role:
Change your lord to the following:
Lvl3 Vampire Lord w/ Master of the Black Arts, Dark Acolyte, Lord of the Dead, Armour of Night, Wristbands of Blackgold, Helm of commandment, Black Periapt
Change your Hero to the following and keep him with a unit of 5 black Knights. 7(6+1) is unwieldily.
Vampire w/ Dread Knight, Infinite Hatred, Blood Drinker
This makes your Lord a very good caster and he can run around giving WS7 to your units. The Armour and Wristbands gives him very good protection from shooting.
Obviously this is just a possible configuration
Hmm.. I like that idea. It frees up 53 points though, so I'll have to figure out where to put those. That just might work though. I always thought of the lords as combat beasts, but I guess they are also our best casters.
CaptainSarathai you need another core for 2k points and that has to be a Zombie/Ghoul/Skeleton unit.
For this list I'd advise 20 zombies as they're a good cheap throw away unit, how to fit them in I'll leave that to you as you may want to re-look at how you've written the list. It's a bit annoying having to fill our mandatory core slots with Zombie/Ghoul/Skeleton units, but the army has to have some bad points.
BEN DIESEL FTW!!!
