Ok im new to the game so any advice on this list would be great C&C is great too.
I dont have many models other than these ive got black knights and spiriit hosts and thats it on top of that
Master of the Black Arts
Lord of the Dead
The Balefire Spike 475
Battle Standard Bearer
Royal Standard of Strigos 185
Lord of the Dead
Power Stone 165
Lord of the Dead
Dispel Scroll 190
Standard Bearer 128x3 384
Grave Guard x18
Great Weapons x18
Banner of the Barrows
Blood Knights x5
Standard Bearer 295
Well thats the list im a little skeptical to take the lord and another vampire with my blood knights as the squad would then be worth close to 1k in points and with the standards on top of that if they died id be in trouble so any comments and such are much welcomed
A few things
You only have one core choice you need 3
I would drop the blood knights for ten black knights, free movement is cool and killing blow is nice.
I like the vampire builds except for the lord
Skull staff is great but costs a vast 65 points, i would give it crown of the damned for a ward save, and then spend the last 30 points on anything you want. I would put the lord on foot to save points and within the graveguard unit for protection.
What are your tactics (with the redone list? after all you only have one core choice).
My bad i just saw the x3 for you skellies.
Ignore what i said about the core choice, with points saved from foot lord and perhaps blood knights, you should try to fit a corpse cart in with balefire, the extra bound item and the -1 to cast for enemy wizards are great!
SORRY FOR DOUBLE POSTING!!!
unfortunately i havent got a corpse cart and i think that the staff of sorcery will be great for casting invocation of nehek as i can cast it 7 times with my lord (including pool dice) on a 2+ which will piss the enemy off because they mightve wasted all their dispel dice on him or my other 2 vamps so id preferably keep it
Im going to have a game with blood knights hopefully today so ill see if i should trade them or not
My tactics are Charge the Graveguard down the middle with the skellys on the outside have have the blood knights in the center and when i get ready for the charge i wheel the grave guard out of the way and the use vanhels dense macabre to prevent them from being charged on the side.
While also through the entire game making my skeleton squads larger and larger
its a long shot but might just work

Just a note on the being able to cast on a 2+. You always need at least a three to cast a spell. Just something to be noted.
Roses are Red
Violets are Blue
If I'm Schizophrenic
Then I am too!
good point hmmmm crap i spose it will be good for the other spells and dispelling seeing as i sent in my list already
And don't forget that those bonuses that lower your TC to 2+ can act to defray any penalties that your opponent might inflict upon you, even if they don't actually allow you to cast on 2+.

Really well said ill have to make sure i remember seeing as im a newbie to fantasy (hardcore 40k player)
Nice, well good luck and i think that skellies as a flank unit may work.....not sure try it out....btw psyan made a great point imagine rolling a natural 6 on one dice for invocation, it counts as cast on an 8 which is slightly above average on 2 dice and you cast it on 1! vanhels will probably draw out dispel scrolls against players who have played against vampires so be careful.....AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH i just had another quick glance through your list....NO BOOK OF ARKHAN?????? its a FREE (well 35pts that alwats pays for itself) vanhels!!! oh well Good luck
Overall it's a solid list. I would see if you can't take a few points away from your vamps though. I mean, they're all solid, but they won't win the game for you. If you can somehow manage to squeeze in a few points for a varghulf, wraiths, black knights, etc, it would go a long way to add another threat to your opponent.
I am heading off to the Peace Corps. It is bery likely I will not be back. Good luck to all of you endeavors.
