Welcome to Librarium Online!
Friendly Vampire Counts... I think that's hard to acheive. This list is just for casual play.
Vampire Lord - Goes in Grave Guard
Lv 3, The Flayed Hauberk (2+), Blood Drinker (restores wounds), Crown of the Damned (+4 ward, Stupidity), Lord of the Dead (+1 to roll skeletons), Infinite Hatred, Red Fury (Successful wounds make extra attacks).
Vampire - Goes in Blood Knights
Level 1, BSB, Dread Knight (Heavy Armour, Shield, Lance, Barded Nightmare), Drakanholf Banner (Unit gains regen)
Vampire - Will be placed in a skeleton unit so as to keep the others within 6"
Dark Acolyte (Level 2), Avatar of Death (HW, Shield, Heavy Armour), Sceptre de Noirot (Extra Zombies on Raise Dead), Dispel Scroll.
2x Skeleton Warriors (20 ), Full Command.
Crypt Ghouls (20 )
3x Dire Woves (5)
Grave Guard (25), Full Command.
Blood Knights (5), Full Command, Royal Standard of Strigos (Hate All Enemies).
8 Power Dice.
6 Dispel, 1 Scroll.
That's the Vamp list, pretty straight forward. Does anyone have any problems playing against this? I want it to be fun, I can see the Blood Knights with BSB being a bit hard to swallow, but there's not a lot of magic there or any bounds (meaning no Corpse Carts). Does it need a bit more variety, crypt ghouls perhaps?
Any comments, constructive criticism and 'I would(n't) play against that because...'s welcome. Thanks.
(If the way I've set out the units is too hard to read, let me know, I'll edit it.)
Note: Changes I've made to the list are in Italics

you could replace the fell bats with a corpse cart
Drakenhoff + Hate + Blood Knights isn't very casual imo, but that depends on your gaming group as well ofcourse.
That aside these are my suggestions:
I would remove the Terror from your lord, you don't want to run things away from your GG, you want the GG to kill things. Rest of your lord looks good.
Might give the BSB Flag of Bloodkeep instead of Drakenhoff for less overkill.
Lord of Dead is a good idea as mentioned above.
Also I'd replace 1 unit of Skellies with a unit of Ghouls (20) for their higher T, A and poison.
With some extra points replace the Fell Bats with a small Black Knight unit for some more mobility / flanking?
Good luck, this was my 2 cent
Some of my friends do run one (or 2 in the case of my mate with WoC) power unit(s) in their armies.
You're right about the Terror, didn't really think it through too much. I'm not really sure where to put a Lord of the Dead in, though it wont matter as much if I swap out a unit of Skelies for a unit of Ghouls. Black Knights I like.
I'll make the changes and mark them in the morning when I can get to my PC with the full list.
Thanks for the imput so far.
If you could make the lord a level 3 and had lord of the dead that would be pretty good. Then you can use his 3 dice and the armies dice to have 5 attempts at raising skeletons a turn. I think i've been lucky enough to only fail the crown of the damned ward save about one time, and i was in combat which meant i could still attack just not cast which is ok because my lord isn't very magical at all. He has red fury, dread knight, infinite hatred and sword of might, crown of the damned and the immune to killing blow item. I then can't really afford much else on him. Blood drinker is very/more useful if you have him in an expensive unit like graveguard, black knights or blood knights.
Yh i have my lord with blood drinker in my blood knights....today played against a nurgle demon army and was able to take out a great unclean one (i think thats what its called) in 2 turns because i had flaming attacks (10 point banner that gives flaming to 17 attacks.....yes please) and every time he killed some of my blood knights...my lord ressurected him....
Crown of the damned is worth every penny (/point?) dont worry about stupidity your lord seems very combaty so it wont matter much
Good luck, and may the dice gods smile upon you and smite your foes
I've been thinking of dropping a unit of Dire Wolves for the Banner of the Barrows on the lords unit of Grave Guard, is it worth pouring more points into that unit?
TBH i think that the only time you should take Banner of the Barrows is when you have a vampire with Helm of Commandment so the graveguard are hitting on 2's
