Welcome to Librarium Online!
Master Necromancer Vorloch de Machian (Vampire)
- Dark Acolyte
- Avatar of Death (Hand weapon & shield, though perhaps a Great weapon so he's abit more "killy"? Thoughts?)
*Invocation of Nehek*
= XX (Since I can't list its cost you're just going to have to trust my math ^^)
Zombified Vagrants x 30
Zombified Townsfolk x 30
Zombified Village militia x 30
Total cost = 597
Couple of points about the list.
First thing to remember is that it's silly...it's just a herd of zombies shambling across the table trying to eat some folks. Second, it's not intended for competitive tourney style games, it's meant for friendly fun games. Third, can you really ever have enough zombies?
The list has almost no hitting power, the zombies are some of the weakest units in the game. But, with 30 of 'em in a unit from the start with potential 4 x d6+4 being added per turn I think it might bite back just abit before being smashed into the ground ^^
I'm hoping for Vanhels on the spell roll, but I might luck out ofcourse...
The plan is simple.
March across the board reinforcing the zombie units until contact is made with enemy. Once in contact summon flanking or rear charging units of zombies, Vanhel (if rolled) them into combat with trouble spots. Keep zombie units in seperate combat to minimize CR crumbling. Dance around with the Necromancer ("vampire") staying ahead of anything trying to smash him and hunting after lone units or heroes (if all else fails).
Corpse cart trundles behind main zombie blocks spewing miasma on as many of them as it can.
I'd like some advice on the list from the mindset of the classic necromancer slaughtering a small hamlet and then enslaving them in undeath to his will. It's a fluff list, first and foremost. I'm not a huge fan of the Vampirefest style VC lists, I want a vampire to be something horrific and rare...not dime a dozen and all over the place.
Perhaps abit strange asking for build advice if my intention is not necessarily victory...but any pointers, tips, advice or things to watch out for when running a massive zombie horde is still welcome!
As for army building, I've got about 50 zombies painted, based and ready to go along with about 30 or so skeletons. I'm thinking I can be abit cheap and sprinkle some skellies in amongst the zombies to pad the numbers. I've also got a "Ogre zombie" project in the works which means one of those badboys is a placeholder for four zombie models.
I've also got some Necromancers painted up made from a mix of flagellant and zombie bits. Lets make this Zombiefest happen!
*Clarification. All the zombies are just normal zombies. They're named townsfolk, guardsmen etc. to seperate them into units.*

Your fluffraping hurts my eyes. - TehDarkPredator
I would drop the corpse cart and add the scepter do noirot so you can have even more "free" zombies it will make the list more competitive and more zombified, as for the great weapon i would just stay with the hand weapon and shield as it will better protect him and also add a nightmare for added armor save and so you can run around casting spells
Iirc, no magic items are allowed in warbands.

PrOtOcoN, I really like your list fluff wise and for friendly games it seems like a lot of fun. However myself i would drop the Cart only because i do not feel miasma is worth it on zombies. I would instead add a second vamp or even a necromancer and go for the added magical support. Or for the second vampire give him Supernatural Horror and dread knight. Basically i would just have that guy running around the table causing terror checks and summoning random zombie squads allover the place. As for the nec i would give him the second spell that way you can get danse and maby if you got the points left over try to add another squad of zombies (not sure if you can as i have not done the math for it) but thats just my 2 cents.
