    2000 Monster List

Thought I'd look into some other parts of the VC book and have a play with stuff I dont normall use and I realised that its possible to build an army with 4 monsters. "Im going to do that," I informed my girlfriend who really couldn't have cared less. But I digress...

    Characters:
    Vampire Lord (630)
    - Infinite Hatred
    - Red Fury
    - Flayed Hauberk
    - Crown of the Damned
    - Sword of Might
    - Zombie Dragon

    Mannfred the Acolyte (320)
    - Abyssal Terror

    Vampire (190)
    - Summon Ghouls
    - Dark Acolyte
    - Skabscrath
    - Cadaverous Cuirass

    Core:
    20x Gouls (168)
    - Ghast

    20x Gouls (168)
    - Ghast

    20x Gouls (168)
    - Ghast

    Rare:
    Varghulf (175)

    Varghulf (175)

You know what... it probably wont work, but it'll be a lot of fun, the enemy wont expect it, and it'll help regain we VC players some respect.

    Comments...?

well I really like the list theme wise.... other than your kit on the support vamp... I'm really not a fan of scabscrath myself...

and unless I'm missing something... mannfred has no save and is on a large target outside of a unit? seems he's going to be wearing a giant bullseye from turn one.

but hey, it'll scare the hell out of your opponent when all those monsters get put down on the table... and that would make running this list super fun!

I know what you mean about Mannfred's armour issues but there is actually no way that you can give him armour. The only thing you can add is a single Arcane item and there's nothing in there that will do the trick.

I'll probably just try to keep him out of sight as long as I can, hiding him behind the equally bulky Zombie Dragon if the need arises.

The reason that I put Scabby in there is that as everything these days seem to be immune to fear the fact that I will have 3 terror causing units on the table should make enough things run away.

What do you use to represent your Abyssal Terror. Unless i am blind i have yet to see a model of it.

Theres certainly one in Mail order only on the fair side of the Atlantic.

But personally I use the Angmar monster from the LOTR range, its smaller scale makes it fit nicely with its statline.

What base size do you use then? I mean without a set model for this creature do you just make one up?

I use the same size that is for a Zombie Dragon.

I'm pretty sure its correct and always seems to go down happily enough at the local GW.

Don't put the 2+ armour on your lord. Give him the immune to killing blow and poison armour. I made this mistake and it cost me a game. With 3 wounds a 4+ ward and immunity to KB, its hard for other characters to touch him. I'd give him avatar then for the shield (still 4+ save for shooting).

The new army book sais you can use any monstruous mount from other armies. Personally, i use a slightly converdted plastic Balrog from LoTR, mounted in a manticore/griffin base. It looks great and is not very expensive.
