We are doing the campaign and I will be facing off against Dorfs and Empire.
Dire Wolf x 10
With this army I would try to hang back a bit and beef up my ghoul units.
Grave Guard x14
With this army I would try to get my units up as fast as possible and work on mainly keeping those units intact as long as possible with Invocation.
pretty good, but I'm guessing LOTD (lord of the dead) is sposed to be summon ghouls
Also with the first list I would split the dire wolves into 2 units of 5. Oh, and maybe add a champion to your vamp's unit if you don't want to deal with challenges.
Thanks for the reply. Yes, Summon Ghouls is what I meant And my plan was to split the wolves in two, also the skellies in the 2nd list would be broken into 2 units.
for 500 points I'd go with
DA, Summon Ghouls
Sceptre de Noirot, Talisman of the lycni
Even against Dwarves, they won't be able to stop the summoning. use all your dice to raise ghouls and then when you need to, summon a new unit of 9 + D3 zombies!!!! You Characters are good enough to survive and your units should hit pretty hard causing you to win by kills.
i know i may sem a bit of a silly idea but hav you considered konrad backed up with a cheap vampire and lots of skellies??? konrad is deadly in 500 point games keep him close to your vampire and watch as he hacks apart entire entire units in a turn.
Doesn't Konrad have stupidity? I don't have my VC book at work with me today so I can't really look him up. I did consider those pre-made heroes but when I looked at them nothing jumped out at me as being great. Very likely I just consider something though.
I have been thinking about that Sceptre de Noirot and might take it but personally I'm not a fan of the shuffling zombie horde. If for no other reason than pushing them around the table is a pain in rear! Still might do it though.
I had 2 fights the weekend. The first was vs Empire and I used my two vampire list with the ghouls. He had a unit of crossbowmen, a unit of tough melee guys(the unit name escapes me) with a warrior priest, a wizard solo and a knight of some sort on a winged horse. I basically stood back and cowered behind a couple buildings for 2 turns while building up my ghouls. At turn 3 I rushed up the middle with both my units of ghouls, keeping his melee unit between my lead unit and his crossbowmen. Couple Dances and I was on him pretty fast. I won combat and out numbered him so he auto-broke. It was pretty easy pickens from then out.
The second fight vs dorfs I used an army of 1 vamp, two units of 15 ghouls and 10 wolves. One unit of wolves was blown away while charging his quarelers but the other unit manged to get behind his army and he had to start turning his units around to face them while I moved in from the front with my main army. Was touch and go for a turn or two but in the end the Dance saved me again and I was able to close with his quarelers before they could inflict much damage. I had much trouble getting spells off with all his dispel dice (4). Luckily I had a black periapt which saved my magic phases. These same Dwarves are pushing my borders now though so I am building an ant-dwarf army to march up and meet them. I'm thinking two vamps, both with DA and one with black periapt.
I'd love to use the Vargulf but I don't have the mini right now and I live on an island in the middle of the atlantic ocean. Doing an order soon though. I like the lynci Idea. I used a vamp on a hellstead a few games ago. Flying around solo. He did well.
