typically I put the vampire in the unit of Grave Guard, the Necromancer with the sword in the unit of skeletons, and the other necromancer in the unit of crypt ghouls. I'm pretty new to Warhammer so I don't have many more models but I do have 20 zombies, a corpse cart, and a varghulf. I can get other models if needed so I'm open to any suggestions. the tournament is the 13th so I have plenty of time to paint and put stuff together.
sorry about the cyclopses they should be 0 )'s
you might also want to invest in a small unit of say 6 black knights w/hell knight who can help support your vargulf. keep them within 6" and they can march since the varg has the 'vampire' rule...
in order to find pts, you might want to re-organise your characters to something like:
- vampire (general) w/dark acolyte, summoning power, helm of commandment or book of arkhan, enchanted shield. place in a small, 10 strong unit behind your main line for added protection!
- necro w/vanhel's + other spell, book of arkhan (if your general didn't take it) or else staff of damnation or power stone + dispel scroll.
vamps are hard to get everything you want at this pts level since we're so relyant on our magic and our main characters are so expensive!!! you honestly want to make sure you've got at least 5-6 casting dice, since dispelling is easier in lower pts games... (as those same Lv1 scroll caddies your opponent takes in 2000+ pts games are even more effective now!)
hope this helps,
Moved to army lists...
I'd keep the musician. While you don't get the benefit to rally, it still kicks in on draws - they're is nothing worse than losing because the other guy brought a trumpet and you didn't.
Having an army and not owning a rulebook is like owning a car with no steering wheel.Originally Posted by amishcellphone
thank you for the recommendations i will try to get some of those models but i don't have 150 dollars to spend on black knights right now. I might do some bretonia conversions but i don't really know right now. I do agree however that i need some fell bats and i will try to get those if i can get them ordered in time. I'm going to have to check but i'm not sure if i will be able to fit both vamps and a varghulf in there considering the two vamps alone are almost 400 points. I have some cairn wraiths I was thinking of putting in but i will have to see. thanks again for the suggestions
keep it simple all vamps sumon ghouls ,dark acyoltye 3 of one with book, and periapt, one crown of command, one staff of damnation a corpse cart and the rest on as many ghouls as you can fit in oh and a bsb.So corpes cart gives u plus one ghoul each tme min of two,you get six power dice plus two pool can save one in casting or dispel round, put all the vamps in the same unit and keep raising dont move unless a shooting army is facing your then move as a block, setup with a refused flank so only have to worry about one flank .zombies are great as blocking troops and holding them up and remember charge angels dont let them over run into your ghoul units.the book, staff and the bound spell form the cart are going to use up dispel dice use them first. You can raise a min of 12 and a max of 42 if you get sixes +1 each time with cart. Its a bit boring but works and well.carin wariths and vargulf are a yes in bigger games, and fell bats are only for march blocking table quarters but then you need five thats i think 150 points thats another23 ghouls a must 2 attacks posion ST4 always belive me it works...............
