So I'm entering a friendly tournament where I will be playing against Dwarfs, High Elves, Ogre Kingdoms, and Orcs & Goblins. I know this isnít the strongest list, but mostly Iím wondering if anyone has ever ran this list for fun. If you have was it fun or just painful?
Vlad von Carstein
Isabella von Carstein
Konrad von Carstein
Wight King with Drakenhof Banner, mounted (I was thinking)
4 Blood Knight
Tomb Banshee, 2 Cairn Wraith
1Seneschal, 9Grave Guard
1Skeleton Champion, 27Skeleton with spears
So normally I would build a vampire, but I was thinking this might be fun to field the von Carstein family. Also the last game I played I tried the Blood Knight unit which was very powerful with a vampire with the blood drinker. Anyway Iím going to have a test game this weekend before the friendly tournament. If I donít get feedback Iíll post to say how things go. Iíll be playing the friendly against a dwarf army, so this will be a tuff test.
Thanks for any feedback.
also, you need more core. right now you're only at 492pts by my calculations, so you need another body or three!
your rares and specials need work to say the least! the grave guard are nothing more than free VP's since 10 won't do a damn thing in 8th. the wraiths won't last beyond a single high elf magic phase either... the blood knights just don't have any survivability since they will draw alot of attention, even with the hoff banner protecting them. (a 2+ save isn't that hard to get rid of.)
overall, will you have fun with the list? probably yes! will it do anything really worthwhile? not really...
if you want to make it a little more competitive, then i'd do the following;
- lose isabella as she's horribly bad!
- drop the wraiths & add some of their pts into the blood knights. (at least bring the unit upto 6 knights since there's no blood drinker available to them).
- bring your core upto the required minimum!!!
- bring the grave guard upto 20 strong and add the barrows banner to the unit.
- might have to drop konrad as well, or if you really want him, then lose the grave guard who are worthless at only 10!
that will give you a fun, yet fairly competitive build!
Well I played a trial game with this list. It went very well. Only Konrad of the named vampires did anything at all. In future games I will build my own characters, but I'll be playing konrad again. Now it was against ogres but his dmg was crazy. The regen banner was worth it this time, I also see wanting to improve the grave guard. The wraiths are great but the banshee not so much. It was a fun game the characters are great for role playing, I'm not sure this list will match up well against all the teams.
