Welcome to Librarium Online!
So as the title implies I decided to go scream heavy while still being legal and reliable. The general idea, is to use doom & darkness , and the cursed book which can get a doom and darkness, and just scream at my opponents softening them up for my tarpits or infantry which will get invocations of nehek cast by my vamp lord to keep them afloat and alive and preferrably high numbered. I would prefer to make hima lvl3 to save some points but everybody at my store brings level 4's so no matter what army list I make it has to have a lvl 4. And with vampire lords it gets expensive going combat heavy and magic heavy so I had to choose one or the other. Anyway I would love some comments and advice thanks.
-Armour of destiny
-Level 4 (vampires)
-Aura of dark majesty
(he's tooled up to attack leadership, and just survive and be well...decent but not fantastic in combat)
-Master of the dead
-Level 2 (death)
-Level 2 (death)
-FC (their equivalent since they can’t have a champ)
30 skeleton warriors
(necromancer goes here)
40 skeleton warriors
-the screaming banner
(again just playing to hit leadership, vamp goes here)
10 dire wolves
10 dire wolves
(wolves are just to protect and run up my flanks and hit flanks as well. Kind of more of a harasser too if anything.)
10 hex wraiths
(i just like them, but again harasser with abilities, and being ethereal can hit and hold on certain units flanks.)
25 Grave guard
(other necromancer is here, doesn’t matter which IMO just trying to spread them out is all, just an effective combat unit to sit with the core and do well in combat)
(obvious, screams. and with fly and what not have them travel with the wolves on opposite flanks or the same flank just depends on my opponents army and deployment.)
Thanks again guys.
You could probably fit in a level 4 master necro with a 5+ward save in your 625 point aallowance for lords if you tool your vampire up a little sparingly.(might not be the best idea though) But I do think you would benefit from switching your core around a little bit, such as taking a unit of 49 ghouls, at this point level they really do make up for their cost. Also if you can fit in a few banshees their scream can really deal some damage especially with doom and darkness going off. For instance my mortis engine brought a blood thirster to 1 wound after I hit him with it today lol
Oh and you have master of the dead on a necro who isnt using lore of vampires so can't benefit from it. The hexwraiths would be better if they were two seperate units, they really dont benefit from the extra rank.
Maybe you want to take a ghoul king with skabscrath and curse of the revenant? but you would need to have your necros keeping your army alive.
just a few ideas for you : )
I do love a good scream army. I use them myself and I might add they are very, very good.
I use a ghoul king with scabscrath as suggested by Petrocco. simple enough it gives you another devastating scream and has the ability to really punch his weight in combat aswell. I find beguile is a very handy tool to give a vamp lord especially if he is a ghoul king (due to his lack of armour saves etc, it also plays with your leadership smashing abilities).
Lose the doom wolves, for their points you can add another wolf. and split the hex wriaths into two, they will be able to be more versitile and attack flankers, again don't bother with hellwraiths. go for their run through unit attack as much as possible rather than standing swinging scythes.
And again as suggested go for a banshee or two. they really help to pump up a unit. They also have terror which can be helpful with all those LD de-buffs.
