In the game I played this weekend past I had the main Vamp and Necro using vampire lore magic, the other Vampire took lore of beasts and used the signature spell. The vampire power master of the black arts worked great in a 6 turn game I only had one poor magic phase. I used the power to increase my power pool in three other phases. We rolled the attack at dawn senario and I was very lucky to have all my units in the same area. I was playing the Ogres and they were not so lucky. The Ogres had three groups stuck at the far end of the board. I was facing off against Morfang, Sabbertusk, and a giant. I was worried about combat resoultion so only took my skeletons into combat with all three of these units. With all my spells going off I was getting to strike first, reroll failed hits and wounds. Plus in the first round of CC I got the Beast sig spell off so +1st and +1To. By round three I had taken out all three groups with just the skeleton horde. I moved the rest of my units to face the three remaining threats. I had to move my vamp lord up so that my units could move, I missed seeing the open charge for the Ogres main leader to take on my lord. He charged out and locked into combat. So I traded my attacks for a heroic killing blow and it totally worked!!! It was a huge long shot and it really paid off. My Cyrpt Horrors took on one bunker and won, while my other units took on the two remaining groups.
It was a great game. The ogres had poor placement because of the dawn attack rules. It was a fun list that I will play again. Not sure if I would change anything. I really wanted to play against the ogres and not use the purple sun.
this is really confusing to read
I just re-read it and yes it is. It was a great game all the same.
