    2500 beginners list.

    Ok been playing a few pratice games with the new book, finding it really tricky to come up with a good list. The new book really is a challenge and a treat for VC generals I feel. So this is what I have;

    Lords 581pts (21%)

    Vampire Lord 396
    -Quick Blood
    -Sword of Strife
    -Enchanted Shield
    -Talisman of Preservation
    -Heavy Armour

    Master Necromancer lvl 4 185
    -Master of the Dead

    Heroes 474pts (17%)

    Vampire 186
    -Heavy Armour
    -Shield
    -Fear Incarnate
    -Aura of Dark Majesty
    -Dragonhelm
    -Other Tricksters Shard
    -Seed of Rebirth

    Wight King 163
    -GW
    -Std
    -Banner of the Barrows

    Necromancer lvl 2 125
    -Dispell scroll

    Core 622pts (25%)

    25 Skeletons, HW, Msc & Std 135
    30 Ghouls 3**
    34 Zombies, Msc 107
    5 Dire Wolves 4*
    5 Dire Wolves 4*

    Special 583pts (23%)
25 Grave Guard, GW, FC, Screaming Banner 355
    6 Crypt Horrors 22*

    Rare 240pts (10%)
    Mortis Engine, Blasphemous Tome 240

    Total: 2500pts

I've also played around with swapping the grave guard for black knights, then mounting the wight king and vampire. And then running a Black Coach & Terroghiest.
If I was to play a list with a Ghiest and Mortis Engine how should my specials look?

    Cheers,
    Lee

There are a few things I noticed here.

Im not a big fan of your vampire lord build. Your are sinking in 400pts into him but he can be doing more damage and be more resilient at that cost. If I were you I'd use a Vamp lord w/ Quickblood, Red Fury, Armor of Silver Steel, Talisman of Preservation and 2 swords. This gives you 6 attacks + Red Fury, 2+ armor/4+ ward and all for 394 points if Im not mistaken. At 2.5k I also think that you are overdoing it with the master necro, when you can get away with 2 plain Lvl.2 necros with the same effect. I really dont think you need dispel scrolls. Wight king is good, but I really suggest you put him with the GG. Also im not sure the reason for the hero vampire.

Core looks ok, with the exception of the skeletons. At 2.5k I would recommend starting off with a bare minimum of 40 in the unit. This also applies to zombies.

Ok, adjustments made for the Vampire Lord. 40 points for +2A or 4pts for +1A, I can see your point! Not sure about dropping the lvl 4 Necromancer, since most people run a lvl 4 and 2, I'd essentialy have a 4 4 and but I play HE quite freguently so they are getting +5 to dispell so that advantage is gone. It does give me more points to beef up my core however.

The Wight King will be in the Grave Guard the reason for the Banner of Barrows, and the Gaurd have the screaming banner hence the fear bomb vampire. When a unit fails there fear test, and the Grave Guard have +1 to hit as it is they can be absolutkey brutal. It's done really well for me in all the games I've played so far. Hitting elves on 2's and having them only hit you back on 5's rerollable is magic when you are wounding on 2's.

The advice is defintley taken into consideration though, and the changes have been made to the Lord.
    Thanks,
    Lee
