This is my standard army list that I have been using at 1500 points upgrading to 2000 points. Working on the the Crypt Horrors and with the 1500 point army done fairly well. The only army I having a bit of hard time dealing with is an experience Ogre player.
Master Necromancer: Curse Book, Talisman of Protection, Master of the Dead, Lv4 & Corpse Cart.
A set behind my core units to boost there ranks also the Corpse Cart gives them the first strike rule giving my tar pits units a fighting chance.
Vampire: Red Fury, Barded Nightmare, Heavy Armor, Enchanted Shield, Magic Weapon & the other Trickster Shard.
Goes in one of my skeleton units
2 units of Skeletons 40 with command 460 (5x7)
2 units of 5 Dire Wolves 80
Vargheists x 6
Crypt Horrors x 6 I just need some support to go with the Skellies and I think the models look cool
I use the Vargheists as a block of 6 since they draw considerably too much attention and are bit flimsy/weak on the receiving end.
These twins have been my game winners since I use them as a pair and break any unit they run into except for the Ogres since I don’t get to stomp them
This army list I am considering and hopping for any positive/negative feedback. Also any tips ideas that may help it to perform better since I am still in the noob phace playing vs. more experience players.
Vampire Lord: with BL Red Fury, the other Trickster Shard, Barded Nightmare, Heavy Armor, Enchanted Shield & Magic Weapon.
Necromancer: Lv2, Master of the Dead, Curse Book & Corpse Cart.
2 units of Skeletons 36 with command 420 (5x7)
2 units of 5 Dire Wolves 80
Vargheists x 6
Crypt Horrors x 6 support to go with the Skellies
Terrorgheist Deal with heavy mounted units
Also Heroes on Standby
Just started working on my Crypt Horrors just need to pick up some paints and primer Ihaven't pick up the Terrorgheist since I am skeptical how it would perform vs. Ogres. But since I have been having a hard time vs. mounted units (Chaos Knights & Mournfang Cavalry) and considering Terrorgheist to deal with them. Any feed back positive or negative is very welcome.

Very nice paint job. I've had a very hard time vrs the new ogre book as well. I posted my win vrs ogres under 2500 point game. Lots of strong magic phases and the scenario saw me win that game. My core unit with support of corpse cart and mortis engine took out 3 units morfang, giant, and sabertusk.
Not sure if this helped at all. If you still can't win drop a purple sun on him
Hi there, not a bad list at all.
The problem with the ogres are that they are tough as nails and can rack up a high body count (But I'm sure you already know this odvious observation)
I find that the mortis engine is very, very handy at dealing out damage to them. set it back and keep it safe while it stores up some damage output. when the game is closing and its at full capasity charge it right into the fray. it will cause some harm with its aura and banshee screams, but when it dies it goes off with one hell of a bang. it also gives your guys a regen save as armour probaly won't help you too much.
They are pritty stubborn with their LD but banshees and death shrieks also work pritty well. I am a mega fan of death shriek and in particular the Scabscrath sword. give a vamp or better a ghoul king this lovely weapon along side his red fury and other buffs like aura of dark mejesty and beguile. he will punch a hole right into any ogre unit. I use this combo in all my VC armies and it does certainly work the only down side is that it is very costly. its damage output can see over 20 wounds a round on just the vamp, odviously it may be a little smaller on the big guys but still a respectable amount of hurt. beguile and the dark aura help to keep him alive through the ogres nasty combat phase, after all they can't kill what they can't hit.
Going along with this Banshees can be very useful too. simply add one to any unit to increase its damage output. you will be loosing men every combat phase that is a given, atleast she will help stem the losses.
Also ghouls are pritty handy, 2 poisoned attacks with a higher toughness is nothing to sniff at. if they are attacking first thanks to your corpse cart they can certainly do some harm. 6's means wounds and that is what you need.
And finally death magic is pritty nice. it works along side the shrieks to reduce LD thus increasing damage. it can also swallow men up whole no matter how tough. As you can expect to loose a fair amount of men to the ogres strong attacks I would advise avoiding heavy combat and try to sneak around it. luck has it that ogres are just as bad at out moving opponents as the undead, but using your flankers you will have that upperhand.
P.S. Why are you wondering about the terrorgheist. BUY one and do it now . aslong as you play chase the bat and keep it from getting bogged down in heavy combat it will rip anything to pieces. Also it looks awesome.
Thank you for your replies it does help me greatly since going up against experience players increases the trills of the gaming. I like the idea of using dead magic combine with the scream attacks from Banshee and Terrorgheist. I think someone posted a list scream list and I will look up over my list making the necessaries adjustments and hopefully get a game in a few weeks. Thank you for your replies and complements. I took my time painting my VC army since some of the players are veteran and have excellent paint jobs. It’s a good complement when they take pictures of the battle setups and post them on the Face book =).
I will post the battle results in a few weeks and let you guys know of the outcome of any battles.
Again thank you for taking the time to reply.
Also I don’t know the ogre player list by heart but this is what I usually seen in it and also he constantly adapts it depending on player he is fighting against.
For 2k + battles
2 Ogre Hordes
He is not big on Lords so he always places a hero on each of his hordes.
Other small units but list varies vs. opponent Leadbelchers & Maneaters.
I fought him twice at 1500 points got hammer twice >.<
I have to second the idea to use a terrorgheist. I played a 2500 point game against ogres and my gheist killed 3 of 4 mournfang in a turn. Granted, it was a good roll and I doubt it would happen again but it was very awesome to watch : ) Also I like crypt ghouls becaus of poisoned attacks making me not have to roll to wound. They are doubly effective with the book of arkhan and hopefully giving them a reroll.
Hope this helps
Yeah that was probaly my scream list , I planned a 3k list but always use the scabscrath combo with a ghoul king in my lesser armies. like i said it is expensive but it really does pack a punch. the ghoul king can re-roll all missed hits with red fury and his very nice stat line he will put out some wounds, that is ofcourse once he's spammed the unit with his nasty scream with enhanced damage thanks to dark aura, and a few death necros with the cursed book. because armour will pritty much be non existent vs ogres hes also a good choice for his regen, give him the cheap dragon gem for a 2+ ward vs any firebellies he may take and with the mortis engine he will have a good save. beguile and such will stop the attackers from hitting him in the first place + his nice WS.
Since the ogre guy doesn't seem to like big lords his heros wont have any really meaty magic weapons. so i would then advise getting some ethereal beasties. i have used a tar unit before with 2 banshees, the ghoul king and a death necro. they pritty much put a stop to anything in their way before combat even starts. I think you should target his thundertusk asap. I also play with ogres and I know how effective it can be. the best way to kill it would certainly be a terrorgheist. be careful of combat, although it can defend itself it is still undead and will suffer wounds in lost combat.
And I completely forgot about the big ghouls, basicly a beefed up version of the regular ghoul but again very good vs ogres, instant wounds are very useful. if you want a quick sweep I would go full ghoul king army with a mortis to boost the regens, expensive but you will see a lot more wounds than the skellies can dish. failing this ethereal armies tend to do fairly well. hex wraiths are pritty decent, they are another unit i always take. 2X 5man units that i use as monster killers, they will also be pritty good against his leadbeltchers and/or cannon, since they wont be able to hit them!
Hope this helps
