6 Crypt Horrors
At 2400pts personaly im a 4 character kind of guy, even if it means squeezing in an extra Lvl 1 Necro, but as neither your vamp lord or hero are moving out of the blocks i think you may be ok. The extra Necrowould be useful to increase your bubble raises though once the game is well under way.
You have gone zombies over skeletons, personaly i dont rate zombies in units in anything less than 50. When you consider that most big blocks these days are kicking about at 30-40 models, and even suarus are running at 30 models, you would have to make sure you raise those zombies up fast. At least with skeletons you can punt a little on thier armour and parry saves, zombies are just a flesh shield.
I take it the doggies are for redirecting and drawing out charges so you can possistion flank charges, if not then they deffinatly need to be bumped up to units 10 large.
Ghouls are expensive since the last edition but at the same time they are still as solid as ever. I would consider running them in horde formation, 3x10, but if you dont fancy that then maybe look at running the 6-7 wide to get in the extra attacks. Your not running away so you dont need to worry about steadfast so much, so the extra attacks are what you want.
I chose Varghiests over Crypt Horrors, but i see Horrosrs working similar to trolls in other armies but without the S5. Im not sure what i would chuck them in against, at first i considered Heavy Cavalry even if you get charged, but alot of the time they have a 1+ save and as your only S4 it might not turn out so well. Still thats 18 attacks +3 Stomp. Its why i oppted for Vargheists int he end, they only be T4 but S5 and flying means they can munch most things.
Unless Mounted i dont rate the Terrorgheist. The only time i would take an unmounted one is when im also using a strgoi lord mounted on another and i fly them around together. Once you are out of the generls LD bubble you are moving at just 10", and for somthing that big, that you want to fly about and NOT charge into enemy units. Against armies without much artillary which could take it down it could do ok, but against a couple of cannons or stone throwers, and even some spells, slow movement and large bases dont mix for me.
Thanks for the reply, I should have really put more information in the original post (but I was a bit tired when I did it).
First thing is I actually choose Crypt Horrors because it had been suggested they would make a better count as for werewolves (as I will be using slightly converted skinwolves for them), I did also consider using Vargheists as werewolves, they didn't feel right (its also a lot of points to find).
Interesting idea on the wolves, I could drop down to a single unit of 50 zombies and have 2 units of 10 wolves, would mean I only need a extra box of zombies (80 should be enough), that said the original idea was to buff the sizes of the zombies up with magic which shouldn't be to hard considering the rate at which they raise with the newly dead rule, that said I'm very open to changes atm, just so long as they stick with the theme I have chosen. The doggies are certainly intended as redirecters, cheap chaff really.
The ghouls will certainly be used as horde in most games, I do think it will in part depend on who I am playing against.
I've only used it a few times and it seemed to do well, I don't think 10" is actually that bad when you consider its still fast than infantry, cannons aren't that much of a issue, varghulf can quickly work through those if need be, hell even the direwolves can make a run for them. Think is if someone is using those template weapons on my terrogheist they are not using them on my graveguard.
