Hey guys I'm new to WFB and have chosen vampires to lead the way so rip my list apart
Level 2 wizard
Master of the Dead
Skeletons x19 w/ vampire (5x4)
Skeletons x19 w/Necromancer (5x4)
Crypt ghouls x15 (5x3)
Dire wolves x10 (5x2)
Grave guard x 14 w/ vampire lord
Hope this is all correct

Welcome to life of a vampire!
Quite a few suggestions for the list.
Your Vampire lord is not tooled up to really do anything. It is hard to fit a vamp lord at this point level, but you should still tool him up as best you can. Try giving him red fury and quickblood and a 4+ ward save. An additional hand weapon would benefit you at this point and so would a strength potion if you can fit it.
At this point level, you should consider running a level 4 necro with vamp heroes for support. (I usually give him the black periapt and a 4+ ward(see the pattern here?))
Dread knight is not really worth it imo. You might have more fun with it, but it sucks getting into a challenge you dont want.
Your units are to small. Skeletons should be at least 30 at this point level. I would run one of 50 with the screaming banner.
crypt ghouls are a bit expensive for this points level, but if you want to use them bump them up to at least 20.
Run your dire wolves as 2 units of 5, makes them last longer.
Your grave guard should be at least 20 but ideally 25 strong and should use the banner of the barrows
Put the blasphemous tomb upgrade on your mortis engine.
Hope some of this is useful : )
Absolutely thanks very much
Should I drop the corpse Cart to bump up my grave guard ?
yes definately do that. i always have a horde of grave guard with gw and the wight banner. they will steamroll over anything on the table
as stated above quite a few ammendments need to be done
Not a bad start though as a beginner, listen to petrocco he's bang on the money. keep you vamp lord tooled up as much as possible, I would drop the second vamp to do this. make him killly and ard. pritty easy to do with a few vampire skills and magic weapons.
And yeah VC units tend to go pop after a combat is done so big units certainly is better, as said above around 30-40 men per unit is about adverage.
Though I do love the mortis engine myself, in such a small army total it is very pricy and will be a walking/hovering target. I would replace it with either more hitters like hexwraiths or unit strength, or simply switch it with the dreaded terrorghiest. it is more of a target but it is really fun to play and is very feared in the warhammer world.
hope this helps.
Terrorgheist is something I was playing around and wondering the better option between that and the engine do thanks
Okay guys new list
Master of the dead
Talisman of preservation
Potion of healing
Additional hand weapon
Talisman of preservation
Grave Guard x 19 w/ vampire (5x4)
Banner of the barrows
Skeletons x 40 (5x
Crypt Ghouls x 20 (5x4)
What you think better? Worse? Utter crap? Let me know what you think !!!!
Where do you plan on putting your necromancer? You really want a bunker for him. and neither the skeletons or the ghouls will fit that role in this list. I would suggest dropping the ghouls in favour of two units of 20 zombies with a standard. One for your necro and one to tarpit after a few invocations. Your necro and your vampire cant both have the talisman of preservation. Also you wont need the healing potion as the lore atrribute of the lore of vamps will up your characters. Your skeletons are a good size already and you wont get much of a chance to raise them beyond starting size, so drop master of the dead. and take the black periapt, its the greatest lol
At this point level, ethereal units are extra exploitive. A lot of armies that are fielded wont be able to deal with them. Food for thought.
You are getting there, but you should start playing as soon as you can, we can only give you so much advice until you have to tweek the list to your play style, which is a why I love the new book.
