Welcome to Librarium Online!
Well basicly Im possibly playing against a wood elf player and he is known for playing with cheesy lists. So I could use some tactic help in both playing and setting up an armylist.
Its not Borderpatrol or Warband rules so we have no limitations.
This is what I got so far:
Vampire thrall: Additional hand weapon, Flayed Hauberk /114 pts
Necromancer: Lvl 2 wiz /100 pts
19 Skellis: Shield, Light armour, Standard bearer, Champion. /210 pts
9 Ghouls: /72 pts
Total/ 496 pts.
Since Im up against Wood elf I might need Fell bats, but Im not sure what to change.
True, but they are faster than anything else in the army. But Perhaps you're right.
I'd say no to the fell bats.
The necro will have to be your general, so I'd give him the cloak of mist and shadows. He won't have to worry about missile fire.
That's 145 for him.
Take a blood dragon thrall for the better WS against the elves. Flayed hauberk and additional hand weapon is good. That's 114 for him.
16 skeletons with light armor. No command. That's 160.
Five ghouls at 40 pts. Five more ghouls at 40 pts.
That's how I'd run what you propose. But this is what I think I'd do if it were me.
Drop the thrall. Use a second necro, lvl 1, no perks. Main necro in cloak of mist and shadows, level 2.
12 skeletons with light armor. We're at 330 total. You'll raise more skeletons with two necros. Use the general to roll three dice for new units on a 7+. Use the second necro to roll two dice to increse the existing unit on a 3+. Almost sure success.
Ghouls are probably going to panic, and with their low ld and the general's not much better, they're almost sure to panic. I might avoid them unless you want them to be sacrificed protecting the skeletons. Still, they could keep the elves out of trees and two posioned attacks is great.
I'd probably take ghouls, just cause I like them so much. Let's say six ghouls.
Now I can add two bat swarms, which I wouldn't usually do at this point level. But they have a load of wounds and they skirmish, and you should expect some fast paced skirmishing units from the elves. This will give you something to counter that. They can also screen missile fire. I like spirit hosts better, but I really think skirmishers would pay off.
SO level 2 necro, level 1 necro, 12 skellies, six ghouls, two bat swarms. Raise at least 20 more skellies and/or zombies and you're good to go.
Hmm, I never thought of that. yeah the second one sounded ok. Thanks alot guys, if you think of any other aprovment I would be glad to hear it. But for now I'll go with DavidVC04's choice.
Watch out for dryads. They'll break your skeletons apart bone by bone. And, if the list bombs I don't want to know about it! :p
Just to be different, here's what I'd suggest for the list:
- Drop second character, add book of arkhan to general necro.
- Cut (I think the number is right) 2 skellies.
- Add 2 units of 5 dire wolves.
Rationale: you can always invoke skeletons, so perhaps your first invoke should be a 7+ to bump the size of the unit up. The book of arkhan is a great cheap (and useful!) spell to throw at your foe that will allow your crucial spells to go through even easier. 2 units of dire wolves are great flank protection, so while your ghouls screen the skeletons / general, the wolves can protect the flanks and hunt down small units on their own or working in tandem. Remember, when they charge in they have better strength and will pierce the light armour of the wood elves have pretty easily.
Regardless of when you choose to field, good luck with your battle!
The iron crowned is getting closer,
Swings his hammer down on him,
Like a thunderstorm he's crushing,
Down the Noldor's proudest king.
Under my foot, so hopeless it seems.
You've troubled my day, now feel the pain.
