Welcome to Librarium Online!
I wanted to try something a bit different when making this list.. But I guess it turned out fairly similar to my other ones besdies 2 lords and trying the rod of flaming death.. Oh well.
Vampire lord, great weapon, level 3, crown of the damned, book of arkhan, aura of dark majesty, earthbind, general
Vampire lord, great weapon, level 3, black periapt, earthbind, rod of flaming death, dispel scroll
Thrall, great weapon, wolf form, flayed hauberk
Thrall, great weapon, heavy armour, earthbind, spectral attendants
19 levy, standard
19 levy, standard
19 levy, standard
(Vampires besides fast one go in a unit each of them)
20 levy, standard
4 fell bats
20 grave guard, shield, standard, champion, warbanner
4 spirit hosts
6 black knights, standard, champion, banner of the barrows, barding
2911 points. Nearly 100 points left.. Guess I could throw a banshee in to fill up points, I can't really think of anything else to add.
You could upgrade th grave guard to drakenhoff guard and include another unit of 5 wolves as scouts?
These are just idle suggestions, the list looks brilliant. I wouldn't want to be on the other side of the table from you. 8 Power dice, 6 bound spells, and if the earthbinds are cumulative, a huge minus from the opponents casting!!
Good luck all those who have to face this!!!
Sorry I got my earthbind and spectral attendants mixed up, btu still awesome. I just worry that your second vampire lord has no ward save. Could be a problem?
Thanks for the comments.
I'm not worried about the vampire lord, he'll be safe inside a unit and will cut up anything he faces before they can touch him. And if not, I can always just heal him. My lord has never really been in a position where I thought he was going to die, except once when I was facing him and my friend was using him, so given the track record for my lords its a risk I'm willing to take. And if he dies, oh well, he isn't the general.
If I upgrade the grave guard, I would want them to be dealing more death with their great weapons.. Would it be worth giving them the banner of barrows and giving warbanner over to the knights?
I would think that would be an excellent idea!!!
Always hitting on 3+ and at st6!!! Who would want to be in the way of that!!! And lets not even talk about the killing blow!! Do it!!
Sweet, will do. That means no points for the banshee though...
2951 points with them as Drakenhof guard. 3 choices:
Add 5 zombies to the unit of 20 and have 9 points left
Add a unit of 5 wolves and be a point over
Or leave it at 2951 because its good enough
I'll be using the list on Sunday, not sure what against yet.. (Yep, heres my list if you happen to look, Jimmy ) I'll let you know how it goes.
I forgot to add my Vampire names before, and it wouldn't let me edit. So...
General, Drakenhof Von Carstein
Lord, Nicomedius Von Carstein
Fast thrall, Ladislav Von Carstein
Other thrall, Xagal Von Carstein
Oh yay my edit button is back! Editing just because I can.
Or you could drop one zombie and have a unit of 5 scouting wolves. Just a thought. You can always raise more!!!
At this point I feel I should type evil cackling, but I'm not sure how, but here goes: MWHAHAHAHAHA, MWHAHAHAHAHA
Since my opponent was either going to be beasts or ogres I didn't see a lot of point in a lot of wolves, one unit was enough.
Turns out it was beastmen, and I had a solid victory. We ended it at the end of my turn 4, he had a chariot fleeing, a spawn with one wound left in combat with a vampire lord who was about to cut him to ribbons, and around half a unit of bestigors who were in combat with spirit hosts so basically sitting waiting to be flanked by my reinforcements, which were close and ready to flank charge...
None of my vampires were even injured, my fast thrall was required to take one save but with 1+ he easily passed.. Maybe I'll be bold next time and try my general without the crown. Hehe
My faith in the fast thrall is strong as ever too, he first charged the great bray shaman (his only magic user, so my priority target for this thrall even if he died trying) the shaman obviously ran and got far enough away, but I redirected into a chariot and smashed it. Next turn I hit the fleeing shaman from behind with the thrall and slaughtered him. Then turned and hit the back of dragon ogre unit already in combat with zombies and the other thrall, one ogre was already injured and he knocked 3 wounds off it and killed it. He was also the one to chase them down when they fled. Definitely worth his points every time IMO.
One thing.. I think the black knights would have benifited more from the banner of barrows.. They rolled pretty bad when charging, and the banner would have helped a lot. All the grave guard did was hit a flank, where my general was at the front anyway so they needed to do nothing but watch the vampire kill then chase them down. Oh well.
